    Autoimmunity Publications

Sorry if this kind of thread has been started elsewhere - the Mods can merge/delete as appropriate. The immune system : I don't find this an easy area to get into at all. I'm assuming there are others out there in a similar predicament. If that's the case, then I draw your attention to this...

Astounding Norwegian research breakthrough with Rituximab can solve CFS mystery!!!

You are 100% correct, Esther. Thank you for curbing my enthusiasm, seriously ! It is sensible to be cautious - I think I've been so down about the "XMRV" business that I am perhaps treating this news a bit too enthusiastically. Yes, replication by groups elsewhere : that's most definitely the...

Astounding Norwegian research breakthrough with Rituximab can solve CFS mystery!!!

Esther12, seriously, mentioning this research in the same sentence as the PACE trial.....come on ! These are cancer specialists who made a chance discovery and have followed it up in the most professional manner possible. The PACE trial - I wouldn't use it as toilet paper.

Astounding Norwegian research breakthrough with Rituximab can solve CFS mystery!!!

Hi Currer, I think it would be wise to keep the subject of "XMRV" away from the Rituximab one. At the time of the conference you mention, the Norwegian researchers were not aware that Dr Mikovits' research would be the subject of investigation in the future. Incidentally, Dr Mikovits said it...

Comment by 'KFG' in 'When PR means Public Relations, not a mythical rebirth part one'

What is needed above all is some hardcore rigorous science to blast away all the crap surrounding this illness at present. I had hoped at one point Jonathan Kerr's work was going to achieve it. Unfortunately, in my opinion, some of the highest quality science seen in "CFS" research to date has...

    The State of Play ?

"In conclusion, the fundamental question of whether XMRV is really an infectious agentcirculating in the human population is still unresolved. This question will not be settled until reproducible assays for the virus are established and validated; in turn this will require exchange of samples...

A Story To Give Everyone Hope

http://www.mja.com.au/public/issues/183_11_051205/van11000_fm.html This is a fantastic story showing how two scientists overturned decades of medical wisdom through trusting their instincts and not allowing sceptical colleagues and vested interests to stop the truth coming out. They eventually...
