    Has anyone tried Modafinil?

Modafinil doesn't help for my fatigue, neither boosts my energy. It clears my brain fog though, which is wonderful, and I "live in the moment", and become very concentrated and chatty. However, this happens only if I take a dose of about 600-800 mg, which is double of the maximum 400 mg dose...

    In Memory of Purple (Klara)

She was one of the first people to chat with when I joined this website. Then I stopped chatting but was following her on facebook and very much enjoyed her anti-brexit talk. One day she was talking politics, and the next day all of a sudden she said she had cancer and had only few more days to...

    Visual disturbances

I say visual but it's no eye problem, I know they are coming from the brain. So: - I can't read any light colored letters on dark background. The higher the contrast, the more difficult or even impossible to read. White text on black background is almost impossible to read. If I concentrate even...

    PEM from writing an email

Yes, I've crashed from listening music, reading , writing, talking ... especially in real-time communication. That's why I don't chat anymore . Having said that, some (or even all) of the activities above can be done without crashing. It all depends on how much effort you put. Well, at least for me.

Looking for safe, gentle stretch “exercises”

There's not much to describe. Choose a yoga posture first. The purpose is not to do it perfectly, as on the images, but rather stretch until you feel a slight pain. For example backbend using a wall - relax your back. If the pain from stretching becomes too much, contract your back muscles a...

Looking for safe, gentle stretch “exercises”

I think yoga stretching postures (static) are the best for PWC because muscle contraction happens in a natural way with minimal effort / movement.

    Sorry, I misunderstood the post.

    Crashing after alcohol?

Even better , you can completely eliminate it by not drinking at all.

Fleas- How do you pet owners deal with this?

I used to have three cats, my neighbor had one too. One summer we had so much fleas ... my hair is getting straight when I remember. I think they were more of a problem for me than for the cats. My legs were covered with pimples, and they hurt awful. I don't think there's non-toxic solution for...

Anybody get rid of pathogenic bacteria naturally?

From wikipedia: So why would you want to remove them? Do they cause any problems for you. Did you go to a doctor?

    Some concerns about homeopathy

From wikipedia: about 50% of uncomplicated UTIs will recover without treatment within a few days or weeks. But you're so sure it was the piece of sugar you took that healed you.

    Some concerns about homeopathy

Same here. I had multiple issues and it didn't help for any of them.

Comment by 'svetoslav80' in 'Another breakthrough to document'

Hi Dainty, glad that you've made some progress. I was wondering if the technique you're practicing is yoga Nauli Kriya youtu.be/KqARVEOOvAM?t=59 , or is it something else? I was practicing this exercise years ago, unfortunately can't do it now due to health issues.

How walking helps keep your brain healthy

No offence taken, don't worry. My post was meant to be half serious / half a joke.

How walking helps keep your brain healthy

This is like explaining how eating sugar boosts energy, in a diabetes forum.

    Most accurate lyme test

    For Lyme, probably Western Blot.

Anyone quit smoking? and see improvements?

I was a chain smoker too, but stopped cigarettes because I didn't have a choice - my stomach has become hypersensitive from smoking / drinking / overeating. In regards to CFS that didn't help much, but in general - I feel much better.

Does anyone else worry about money/finances?

Yes, I can't work and I'm not getting any disability benefits (because I "look healthy" I guess), and if it wasn't my mother to support me I think I would die of hunger. But she won't be here for me forever, so it's quite realistic that this will happen some day, and I'm really terrified.

Is low grade fever a typical symptom of CFS?

It's not a fever but I don't think it's "normal" either, despite everyone says so. If your normal temperature under the armpit is 36.6 C then 37 is an indication something is going on. It was 37 for me during my onset , and I also "felt" it just like you, but for me it was only for a day or two.

What if ME is simply brain damage after encephalitis?

Unlike CFS onset, I think there's always fever present with encephalitis.
  23. svetoslav80

    Kent Holtrof or Phil Battiade?

Looking realistically, there's no cure for CFS yet. My advice would be to not give your money to any CFS "specialists".

Water fasting - Can I take my meds?

I guess it lasts at least for weeks, because another identical study says patients have stopped taking antihypertensive medication after the fast. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11416824

Water fasting - Can I take my meds?

Not true, here's one study published on NIH website saying patients normalized their high blood pressure after 13.6 (average) days of water fasting https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12470446
  26. svetoslav80

Water fasting - Can I take my meds?

Actually there are people who claim to have done dry fasting for a few days. There are a few videos in youtube. Besides, just "fasting" may mean that you still take *some* limited amount of food, I think? So water fasting is a correct term https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_fasting

Water fasting - Can I take my meds?

Have you made water fasting before, for shorter periods? Are you aware of the dangers? The first time I made water fasting , I think it was just for a day or two, I experienced awful hunger, couldn't control myself and I ate a lot instead of gradually feeding myself. And I had a really awful...

    Confusion about ME characteristics

The immune system is complex. My non-scientific understanding is that, in CFS, a fraction of it is running high, probably elevating some med indicators that haven't yet been researched. I'm also wondering if that fraction eventually exhausts and is weakened. Probably, I don't know. I think the...

    Lyme questions

Not really. I guess I was just spontaneously trying to counteract the Lyme paranoia on this forum which sometimes comes a little too much to me. So, better do the Lyme test, though I'm not sure how reliable it is.

    Lyme questions

Have you noticed being bitten by a tick? Have you noticed bulls-eye rash on you? Do you often walk in grass / forests / areas where there are ticks? You can still test with Western Blot, but if the answer to these questions is "no" then the chance is small that you have lyme.
