It looks like this is bigger in America and may even be mainstream there?

I was wondering if anyone has any information on it and its potential usefulness in visualising pain and inflammation in M.E. as 'proof'......

thanks....

I've just heard about it for mammograms. My naturopath offers this.

I have only just heard about it too. Thanks for your reply.

Whilst I dont think it is mainstream in America (i thought it was) There are loads of clinics in America.

http://naturalhealthcenter.mercola.com/services/thermography.aspx

I know its known for breast screening and early detection etc. but on this link about half way down, other applications and conditions become relevant.

I dont know. Here a full body scan is £395
half body scan £295 and area of special interest £195.

It looks quite useful if it maps areas of pain etc. but not sure I fully understand it.

I got my information leaflet through today on DITI - Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging.

It visualises pain and inflammatory and neurological processes vascular dysfunction or musculoskeletal injury. Surely that would have to be taken seriously by benefits agencies as objective proof of pain?

TMJ shows up too apparently along with other stuff includinv digestive issues...

Immune Dysfunction, Fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue it says...

The immune system correlates to the T1 or T2 area of your spine - high levels of heat in these regions can indicate immune dysfunction. Chronic Fatigue, Fibtomyalgia or aching are just often complaints that correlate to cool patterns in this area.

The scans are sent overseas to medical doctors to be analysed and a report made.

These doctors are apparently also willing to teach G.P.s and talk them through the results if neccesary.

I wish I had known about this when I first got ill!

I would love to hear from someone who haz had it done and your opinions.....

Hi Golden; I first got sick in September 2009. I have my thermography report in front of me and I had it done in November, 2009 at my Naturopath's office. My naturopath put me on tons of supplements and such but at the time we didn't know what I had. Only that my body was very sick. The vitality index showed up as 2.4 and normal was 33.7. It also showed reduced immune function and borderline lymphadic congestion. Also some problems with my jaw (which I have no problems with). Elevated heat in my right breast (high incidence of breast cancer in my family) so I never miss a mammogram. The sad thing about this test is that if I had showed it to a family doctor they probably would have laughed because it's not something they use here in Canada. I have enough trouble proving all my ME/CFS symptoms. I think it's a good test to have for yourself to get a heads up on what's happening in your body. The interesting part about the test is that it revealed that I can tolerate invasive therapy. Sure enough I'm on Valcyte right now and although most people have a heck of a time on it. I'm tolerating it like candy. Good luck witih what you decide but it's definitely an interesting test to have. This one was all computer generated including the results based on the heat points indicated on a color graft. Good luck:)

Actually now that I'm finally seeing "real" specialists in the field I think I will bring them a copy of my test in case it's of interest to them. Thanks for reminding me about it!

I had one done. It showed heat that shouldn't have been in the top of my spine. Perhaps that is the T1 or T2 areas that golden mentions. My chiropract said it would help him treat me but since he shares the office with the thermagraph man but I think he just said that to get the cash.

The only thing that it is useful for and has recognition for is showing breast cancer. I think there are proper papers on that. I am less sure about the rest. I wouldn't recommend anyone else do it unless they want to test for breast cancer.

I was interested to hear that there are doctors you can send it to abroad. I didn't know about that.
I don't know where my image result is. It's been over 6 years since I had it done and I was so disgusted with myself for wasting the money on it that I lost it under a ton of other blood tests over the years. I don't know about anyone else here but I find filing test results over the years from this illness really difficult.

Thanks very much for sharing both the good and bad feedback.

I like hearing from real people.

:)

Its still very much intriguing me. I've only ever had a few blood tests. The last one being a God Almighty fight trying to squeeze a Vitamin D3 blood test outvof the NHS . I would be interested in the lumps in my neck and behind my ears and front left head blockage and left eye and neurological problems. Inflammation.

Its one of those things were it could prove a real investment or feel like money down the drain.

I would go for the full body scan though as may as well if I am getting it done as it may show up something else.

I haven't seen any scientific studies but its good you say it can be a good tool for breast cancer early detection. I have learned something else new :)

One lady said she got a fright as her results came back abnormal and so she got an MRI. It turned out it was just a clarification lump which went of its own accord within 6 months.

I was impressed by this level of detection but this must be remembered in all testing as the body is in a state of flux and is continually working to maintain homeostasis.

I usually just have breast thermogram but splurged on face/neck/ upper back. It showed:

"The T2 vertebral level upper back is cool and this finding is associated with an increased incidence of autonomic and immune dysfunction". I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Also of note - dental inflammation. Booked already to remedy root canal/cavitation issues.

Lastly, "mid forehead thermal activity bilaterally is consistent with sinus congestion" - I have not had sinus pain tor decades so intriguing. Hotspots look like they are in the inner, upper eye socket. Any thoughts?
