No, getting diagnostic insight is important @naoise. The more data you can get hold of, the better. The Western Blot data in particular can provide good clues. I am sorry I was joking a bit with @msf.

Getting treatment if appropriate is even more important.

It's just that not many things are sure things in Lymeworld.

No, technically you need 2 bands to be positive IgM, unless this is not a WB. Is there another band like 23 or 18 noted?

Aach, this gets so complicated thanks to the outrageous interests at play.

I am assuming you were equivocal or positive for the ELISA? To get your WB, that is usually the case.

Ok. It is good to ask yourself if you are in an endemic area, or visited one. Do you recall a tick bite? Was there a rash?

Many people who suspect Lyme will trial abx and then retest; sometimes, the abx triggers the immune system to do its job, the Bb antibodies appear in force, and a more definitive diagnosis can be had.

There are also alternative labs.

Your cd57 score - which can mean more than one thing - is suggestive of a Lyme infection, but is by no means definitive. Ditto for band 41, since other culprits can purportedly generate that band.

@duncan yup I've been in many tick infected area...lots of tropical countries, swamp areas, jungles etc. I don't recall a rash etc but my mum has a memory of either myself or my sister getting a ring worm looking rash. And we'll my sister is healthy!

Do you know what else a low cd57 score indicates? Is it worth still digging further into this and seeing a specialist?

Remember, Lyme in most places is a clinical diagnosis. You shouldn't need labs to validate. The reality, however, is most doctors govern a Lyme diagnosis based on labs.

The cd 57 is not specific to Borrelia, but there is a high correlation with Lyme and low CD 57 scores. But, like I said, it is not specific to Lyme. Same thing with CXCL13 in one's spinal fluid - many claim this indicates Lyme, but naysayers say it could be a chemokine triggered by some other infection.

It's like piecing together evidence in a court case.

I guess no doctor has suggested Lyme cause I'm in Ireland so it's not common. But my symptoms just don't make sense to me..consent extreme facial flushing, huge amount of gut issues, exhaustion, fatigue, facial numbness etc. I just refuse to believe it's ME.

Brings to mind that old western line, "Pick your poison." Or, "Heads they win, tails you lose". :(

So so true!

Oh do you know anything about candida? Have asked in another oage but no answers. I've been told i have candida but can't help but think I won't beat it with my low immune system! Any truth to that or just my mind trying to give me excuses to eat sugar!

why is this even a question? doesn't high IgM antibody levels mean ACTIVE infection???

its high IgG that is controversial...not IgM??

I don't know about candida

@Daffodil, nothing is clear cut in Lyme. IgM's would signify active infection up to 60 days into the disease, but after that, according to the scriptures, not so much...lol

And IgG's? Well, if you've had any kid of treatment, you might be told to ignore those.

Thanks for the link @Mel9

I guess I'm confused as I am positive borellia IGM and then band41 IGM and igG. So who knows whether I have lymes or not I guess!
And the fact my cd57 is -50, according to sites, suggests something is wrong.
