Hey everyone, Matt here and i'm new to the site. Thanks for accepting me. I have been dealing with serious cognitive issues for a couple years now and its gotten worse. I can't think straight, I'm always foggy headed, I have a feeling of bags under my eyes, ect. I at one point did a hormone/neurotransmitter test online with a doctor and got some hormone creme and other supplements to cure it. Seems it only made things worse. Now my vision is off and when I look at the sky or something bright i see little "squiggles" everywhere (sorry, thats the only way i can explain it.) Also since having these issues I have developed Ulcerative Colitis and quite badly i might add. I can't help but think that maybe the UC is tied in with my adrenal fatigue/HPA axis problems i have going on. The only thing i can think of to do now is go to my trusted naturopath and try the hormone test again. Any advice out there on where to begin. Thank you.

Hello Matt,

It's hard to give specific advice, but from my own experience I have found that when I am more physically active, my brain is mushier, my sight less precise, and my speech more stuttery. I also am more likely to get migraine. I wonder are your squiggles migraine related. I restrict myself physically to keep these better under control.

I don't know anything about ulcerative colitis, but I have found my own digestion improved since giving up wheat & gluten. I'm sure you've probably tried all that already.

Hope you get a few more answers.

I've been dealing with bad fog for a few months. I'm housebound so for me it has nothing to do with whether I exert myself or not. I did have fog a few times from a supplement I was taking but I'm still trying to figure it out now since that is not it. I am learning to live with it which pretty much sucks because it adds a new level of fatigue to it.

What you describe about the squiggly lines sounds like "floaters". I have tons of them and they are more apparent when looking at the sky or tv. If you get an eye exam that will tell you for sure. There is nothing you can do about them unfortunately.

"Eye floaters are small moving spots that appear in your field of vision. They may be especially noticeable when you look at something bright, such as white paper or a blue sky."

I should note that they are not normal eye squiggles or "floaters." I have those too and they are not an issue. The ones I am referring too seems almost as my brain is so tired and exhausted that it cant compensate by looking at the bright light and they are lines that come and go but they are only really noticeable when i look at the sky. I feel it ties in with my HPA axis dysfunction. I think i am going to try the hormone test again. Any recommendations on b12 supplementation in the meantime or something to try out? Thanks all for replying, much appreciated.

Also yes, i have been trying gluten free/dairy free

We can't give you medical advice or diagnose health problems here, but perhaps some people can share their experiences with you.

If you have vision problems, it would probably be best to see an eye doctor about them. There are many possible reasons for visual disturbances, so seeing an expert who can actually look at your eyes and runs tests is likely to be the best path.

The same applies to your other known medical conditions -- UC and adrenal problems. Seeing an expert would be wise.

Do you have ME/CFS? If so, members might be able to suggest ME/CFS specialist doctors in your area if you let us know what part of the world you're in.
