Hi Ema,

I'm truly confounded as to why Christine was banned. Can you please explain this for us? Someone said earlier she was banned for selling her services...or something like that. Could you or one of the moderators point us to a post where she was doing this?

I don't get it.

If Christine was trying to sell her services she did a really bad job of it.

We have never intentionally allowed any post to stand that breached forum rules though we do rely on members to help by reporting posts that they feel may be in violation of the rules. If you know of one that has broken the rules, I encourage you to report it.

It is not against the rules to respectfully express skepticism about a method or test or to ask for clarification. It is in the forum's best interests to allow for balanced and informed debate and that is also the purpose of moderation.

Thanks Ema. Healthy skepticism is of course desired, it was more accusatory and confrontational.

Without going back through 30+ pages (that I have read just not all today!), I can't point to any posts that broke forum rules against personal attacks. If you know of any one in particular, I'm happy to go back and re-look at that post if it is reported.

But again, simply posting a conflicting viewpoint or contradictory information is not a rule breach as long as it is done in a respectful manner. To my recollection, the people who were skeptical were more the recipients of hateful posting and defensive posturing...neither one is acceptable!

The moderation team will provide a brief statement in the next day or two.

It is not the policy of this forum to discuss in detail the reasons behind moderation decisions to ban a member, for a number of very good reasons, not least of which is that it is not fair to a member who has been banned to list and describe the behaviour that led to the ban when they are no longer able to respond to anything we say publicly about them. However, since several members posting on this thread have asked about this decision, in this case we will reluctantly make an exception and make a statement on the matter. This is not a conversation, however, and I would ask all members to accept that this decision has been made and it is not open for discussion. Further posts about this matter are off-topic to this thread, and there have been multiple warnings about this, so any further offences of that nature will be dealt with firmly.

I must first emphasise that long-standing members should understand that we do not ever take lightly the decision to ban a member from this forum. This decision was taken after very careful consideration, and it was unanimously agreed by the moderation team, including myself.

I must also emphasise that moderators are always in possession of considerably more information about issues like this than members are. In this case, the evidence that this decision was based on included chat transcripts, private message conversations between ourselves and the members concerned, posts that were moderated or deleted before members may have seen them, evidence from discussions on other forums, and other material elsewhere on the internet.

We have been asked to point to the evidence of where the rules were breached. As always, such evidence has of course been removed and obviously we would not want to compound any breach of the rules by repeating the offence or pointing it out to everyone.

As regards the rule breach in this case, I can confirm that Dog Person was banned from the forum for soliciting business both on the forum and in the chat rooms. When members join this forum, they agree to follow the few rules we have set out for them. One of those rules states:

Advertising - please obtain moderator permission beforehand, otherwise it will be regarded as spamming.

We do not allow members to use this forum for commercial purposes.

One of the aspects of moderation work that is generally hidden from members is the removal of spam and advertising. To provide a glimpse into the work involved there, in the past week we have banned over 30 people attempting to use this forum for spamming and advertising purposes. If we didn't do this, the forum would be over-run with spammers within days.

We are aware that many members have already established email contact and commercial relationships with DogPerson. We regret that this has been allowed to happen, but of course those people who have such contacts are free to pursue those relationships outside the forums. It is also quite acceptable for members to discuss those services and the subject of hair analysis in general on this thread.

I am aware that this thread has sparked some interesting conversations arising from posts that DogPerson made, regarding B2 in particular. I would just like to suggest that members entering into a commercial relationship with DogPerson might do well to Google for some of the scientific text from her earlier posts, and decide for themselves how much of that thought-provoking content was lifted directly from other sources without attribution.

This thread will be re-opened, but I must stress again that this moderation decision is not a matter for debate, and that future posts in this thread should stick to the topic of the thread, which is Hair Mineral Testing.

hi Mark

You had said on the Hair Mineral Testing thread, which is currently closed, this.......

"We are aware that many members have already established email contact and commercial relationships with DogPerson. We regret that this has been allowed to happen, but of course those people who have such contacts are free to pursue those relationships outside the forums."

Why would you and other moderators regret such a thing? Some people have been helped by Dog Person already and others are seeking her help, but yet you "regret" this is taking place? Sorry, but I don't get it.

Thanks Rand, and I agree, I would like some clarity too. Far from regreting any contact with Christine, it has been of great benefit to me and I have had my sleep restored due to her theory and it has not cost me a penny. She advised a cheap vitamin which I bought at my local store. She is also doing a free hair test for me - again no money changing hands. I just dont understand what there could possibly be to regret this.

Clarity perhaps would be welcome and also flexibility, since some people here have been helped by Christine - and without any financial counterparts (hope my english can be understood). And above all, I wish we could continue to search this vitamin B2, keep dialogue, for everyone's benefice. And not letting this dialogue be with its initiator is not fair... and empoverished.

Do you think we should take the B2 discussion away from this forum to one where we can discuss Christines services?

facebook group? Other suggestion?

Just throwing this out there in case people feel it might be a worthwhile solution to the limits on discussion here?

Me too!

Christine is trying to create a blog on her website, but I don't know how long this will take.

In the meantime, I (and several other forum members) are already on Facebook, and so we could join you there.

Would that work?

What are the limits to discussion that would make you go away? I think this is very valuable information to share.

"Limits on discussion"?

Since further clarification appears to be necessary, members may discuss Christine's services here just as they may discuss any other services. Members may post about their experience and views about those services, whether positive or negative. Members may post information and opinion about the subject from different perspectives. That discussion is not being limited, and will be treated just like any other discussion - in accordance with the forum rules.

The issue here is that providers of commercial services may not use this forum to promote and sell their products. Those service providers may, of course, provide information and discussion groups themselves, on their own websites, and forum members may discuss such sites and services on this forum. Forum members are free to express respectful and reasoned scepticism about such sites and services, just as other members may express their support for them.

What members have been asked not to do - repeatedly - is to criticise and dispute moderation decisions in forum posts. Members may contact moderators by private message or by reporting posts, if they have concerns. As far as I can see, that is the only 'limit' that is being placed on the discussion here, but if members want to form a separate group, whether to meet with Christine or to moan about Phoenix Rising moderators, they are of course free to do so.
