From: http://www.investinme.eu/IIMEC12-DVD-Order-EB.shtml
Invest in ME Research will produce a DVD of the IIMEC12 conference proceedings. This will be our twelfth conference and now we will make our twelfth conference DVD available.

The DVD's are heavily subsidised in order to make them available to as many patients, patient groups, carers and researchers, healthcare, media and politicians as possible.

But during the month of May (ME Awareness Month) the charity is offering the DVD at an even further discounted price.

This offer will last until the end of May 2017.

C12 Conference DVD

Location Cost
UK
£12
EUROPE
£13
OUTSIDE EUROPE
£15

The DVD will likely contain 4 discs and the full presentations from the 2017 conference plus plenary sessions and pre-conference dinner talks.

We hope to distribute the DVD as soon as possible after the conference - hopefully in July - but this will depend on the DVD authoring company.

Invest in ME Research update on the pre-conference evening dinner:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/5804522506/permalink/10154661106987507/

Our pre-conference dinner is a way of us meeting up and networking before the conference with our colleagues and researchers.

A lot of our friends from Europe and overseas will be attending.

The European ME Alliance will be present.

We are very pleased that a great supporter of Invest In ME Research Jon Campling Actor will be there.

We also have Mike Harley present (Mike has a busy week as his Luxembourg marathon is this weekend) and he will be at #IIMEC12 on Friday - http://investinme.org/ce-IIME-Newslet-1504-02.shtml

Our guest speaker is David Tuller who will be presenting an interesting commentary, on such things as the #PACETrial

David's presentation will be available on the Conference DVD - which can still be ordered in May at the earlybird discounted price.

Last year's pre-conference dinner speaker - Kjersti Krisner will be there also, this year an honorary IiMER-helper also.

There are many others also attending and the evening already has a list of over 100 attendees - making it the largest we have ever had.

News items relating to the conference are here - http://investinme.eu/IIMEC12-news.shtml

Chairman Kathleen McCall has led the charity a long way since that small beginning in 2006 for our first conference.
Here is the chairman's welcome speech - http://investinme.eu/IIMEC12-chairman-message.shtml

For those coming to London - the charity looks forward to welcoming you - and the weather looks to be pleasant - https://weather.com/en-GB/weather/tenday/l/UKXX0085:1:UK

Hi @Comet the DVD discs are region 0 which will play on all PCs and will play on modern TVs with flat screens.
I'll post a full reply about this from the DVD production company below.

Has no one from UK govt health depts or research funding bodies ever attended?
Thanks @Somer I'm not 100% certain as I only found out about the charity in 2010 and only follow online. I don't think anyone in a senior position in UK govt health depts or public research funding bodies has attended yet. I don't know whether any watch the conference DVD. As the Chief Medical Officers have never accepted the invitation, the charity arranged this meeting in January 2017: http://www.investinme.org/IIME-Newslet-1701-01.shtml

Edited as text went a bit weird with links then oops.

From a Facebook post by Invest in ME Research in 2015:

We have had a couple of enquiries on the subject of whether the DVD will play in USA/Canada.

Even though we have not offered a specific NTSC version of the DVD since 2013 we would like to state that the DVD discs are region 0 which will play on all PCs and will play on modern TVs with flat screens.

But in order to further verify this we asked our DVD authoring company - DJM Video Services (http://www.djm.co.uk) to comment on this.

We thought we would best inform everybody of the reply in order to dispel doubts about whether the DVD can play in USA/Canada - which it can and will.

Before that though we would like to thank David Meachen at DJM for his excellent cooperation with us for the conference DVDs and his help and support and professionalism over the years.

David's reply to the question of whether or not PAL DVDs (the one produced by IiME) will play on US PCs: -

"Regional coding can affect play playback on PC's but not the disc format PAL or NTSC.

All the IIMEC DVD's are created region '0' which means no regional restrictions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code…

However the user's DVD software may not be correctly configured.

There is a very simple solution.

I highly recommend installing and using a piece of software called 'VLC media player' it is 100% free and extremely reputable and regarded as one of the very best media players available not just for DVD but for almost every type of video format.

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

It is available for MAC and PC free of charge.

PC version:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.en_GB.html

MAC version:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.en_GB.html

(We can) create NTSC DVD's but I think this would be unnecessary expense."

Bit of extra info that the 2016 pre-conference evening dinner presentation given by Norwegian advocate Kjersti Krisner was recorded for the IIMEC11 DVD and is now also on the Invest in ME Research youtube channel. Just a warning for patients/parents/carers that the topic may be upsetting as it is about very severe ME. There is also music at the beginning and end. Intro and video here: http://www.investinme.org/IIME-Newslet-1705-01.shtml
