How do you detox the brain?

I know the body has inherent methods for detoxifying itself: the liver, kidneys, etc. However, if I'm not mistaken, the body stores toxins in fat cells if they're not processed through one of these inherent detox channels.

I am having an issue with what I believe to be a cycle of release and store of toxins within my brain whenever there is stimulation to my scalp. The stimulation can come from a haircut, to rain, to taking a shower. A few hours after this stimulation, I feel really poisoned or toxic in my head, with glossy eyes, pale face, brain fog, etc. It takes a couple days for me to feel normal again.

Has anyone ever experienced such a phenomenon? I really feel that because the brain is very fatty, the majority of toxins I've accrued from Lyme, Candida, etc, have found a home in my brain, but I need to give them a way out.

Any ideas or help with this? It would mean the world to me to figure this thing out. I've been to countless doctors and this symptom just baffles them all.

Check out the book The Perrin Technique by Dr Raymond Perrin. I think it will resonate with you.

I don't think you can detox the brain in similar way like for example the liver. Reason is there is the blood-brain barrier, which keeps most toxins and supplements from entering the brain directly. The brain actually does automatically some type of "detox" during REM sleep, so getting quality sleep would be the obvious step, though detox is a bit loosely used term in general.

@Cheesus Wow, the Perrin Technique hit me like a ton of bricks. Is this for real?

For so long I've been describing my symptoms as being "poisoned" -- no doctors could make sense of it -- and here is a physician who uses the exact word I do.

"Resonate" it definitely did!

@wondrous - I used to have a terrible time detoxing, and yes, feeling poisoned was a very apt description. It wasn't just my brain, though it was affected, but also my digestion, everything felt off I would feel sick and poisoned. Generally my detoxing was triggered by various supplements -anything which was called "cleansing" caused detoxing. It was very unpleasant, and happened over and over again. At times I felt like I was high - I think that was mercury in my brain! Not totally unpleasant, but not something you'd want all the time.

Through chance I discovered glycine, an amino acid. I first took it for sleep, and it helped, but it also caused a very strong detox reaction. I got lost going to my sister's house, it was hard to function. It's a long story, but I learned t hat glycine was important for phase II liver detoxification - so decided to stick with it but in much smaller doses. And around the same time I also came across glutamine and inositol, which were also important in phase II liver detoxification but I think glycine was the most important. It took several months but eventually I was able to tolerate all three of these amino acids and now take them regularly with no problem, which was impossible before. And I almost never get detox symptoms any more, and they used to be a regular occurrence.

So I figure my detox pathways are now working how they are supposed to, after not for many years. Here's an article about phase II liver detoxification which I found very helpful: http://www.diagnose-me.com/treatment/liver-detoxification-phase-II-support.php

Thanks for your response, JES! I have been working on my sleep, and it definitely makes a world of difference, but I find that through external stimulation of my scalp in some way, something inside of my head is released that makes me feel bad.

@Cheesus proposed Dr. Perrin's theory of toxins being stored in the brain because the lymphs aren't moving -- this makes so much sense!

So I guess the best way to detox the brain is to open us the inherent channels the body came with that allow the brain to remove the bad stuff.

Buy the book. It has all the instructions in for how to do the home techniques. Depending on where you are you might be able to find a practitioner to help (check the Perrin website). If not, you can recruit any old osteopath who you think would be willing to take a look at the book and help you with it. Failing that, you can still do it without the osteopath.

The good thing about the Perrin technique is that it is really low risk. The worst you will do is waste time and money, but you will not harm yourself by doing lymphatic drainage (unless you have lymphoma, in which case you should not do it).

I've read on betterhealthguy.com's ILADS and other conference summaries that Dr. Klinghardt says that you can detox the brain by using liposomal melatonin. I want to say that you use high doses of liposomal melantonin, but I can't remember. If you google some combination of: liposomal melatonin, brain detox, Klinghardt, etc. You'll find some information. Melatonin is a strong antioxidant in case you didn't know.

Thanks, @junkcrap50! That's interesting information and I'll look into it.

@Cheesus That's a very good point! I ended up purchasing a trampoline as of late to start assisting with lymphatic drainage, but I'm also looking into lymph draining massages.

I've looked through a lot of information about lymph drainage online, but a load of it is crap. It tells you to do things like push lymphatic fluid towards lymph nodes, which is just not correct at all. All superficial lymphatic fluid moves towards the subclavian veins, which, as the name suggests, are just beneath the clavicles.

As I said, I really recommend the book if you are going to approach it properly.

he also has videos on Youtube:

I meant for treatment specifically, which I have not been able to find online from Dr Perrin. I have not watched all the way through to part 6 of that series, however. So maybe he discusses it there?

I am going tonThe Chung Institute in Moorestown and am having good results. I had gotten myself 60-70% better but still had issues that landed me in bed about once a week or so. I am taking chorella daily . I have been on melatonin daily for 5 years and am going to try liposomal melatonin. My integrative specialist follows
Dr Klinghardt's methods and it is getting me back to were I am getting my pharmacy license backpack and Pgoing to graduate school for biomedical wring at age 52. I was having neuropsychiatric sympyoms and am now being treated for Neurol Lyme I was skeptical at first I was never seropositive. But my Psyche symptoms are remarkably better after1month of Neurol Lyme treatment. My husband is suffering from a severe depression he is 57. I think he may have Lyme or neurotoxins in his brain. He is doing conventional medicine and it is not working at all. He is 57 and is a successful civil engineer never like this in his life. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia cfs. Had two 2 day exercise tests. Results typical for cfs.
Working with my gp I was treated with diflucan, valtrex and Celebrex ( did wonders for pain had high gig Epstein Barr titer was able to quit opiates) , Cholestyramine ( found mold in the house) metronidazole ( parasites.
Mold sabbatical , I am not a super reactor but I think by getting out into pristine nature ( low electro magnetic fields , less toxic stress on body overall) for a long time I went 3 weeks , my " cfs" symyoms of pem , sleep issues and excessive urination went away.

Sorry to hear of your husbands depression, is this a new thing? How long has it been going on?

I had the 2 day exercise test done as well.
