Is abdominal binder the same as back support strap?

I was suggested to use an abdominal binder to keep blood from pooling. My dad has one of those back support wraps that look the same. Can I use that or this is different? How tight do these need to be?

Don't know how you'd do it and still breathe. Gravity is hard to fight, so a bottom up approach seems reasonable to me.

A specialist that diagnosed me with CFS recommended compression stockings for blood pooling. I got the running ones, and found they help. I put them on before I go out if I'm going to try and be vertical for more than about 2 minutes...

haha well I am not talking choking tight, just some restraint to keep the blood pooling. Just not sure if the back ones will be sufficient. I have done compression stockings but they dont help as much as I would like.

I've done both. As far as whether the back brace would work, it depends on the back brace. If it is adjustable and wide enough to cover the splanchnic area, it might work. I have such a back brace but I find the abdominal binder much more comfortable. Here is an image though it area you need to compress is wider:
