WHITE TIGER OXYMATRINE

Has anyone taken White Tiger Oxymatrine and if so how has it worked for you?

I have tried both White Tiger oxymatrine, and Alternative Medicine Solutions oxymatrine. I found the latter easier to take, because it does not make you feel dizzy like the White Tiger brand can. The White Tiger brand contains both oxymatrine and matrine, and it is matrine which makes you dizzy. More info here.

@Hip I personally have not experienced dizziness with White Tiger and at half the price of Alternative Medicine Solutions I wonder if I should continue with it. I suppose the big question would be how effective it is.

You sound pretty knowledgable in this area. Do you take oxymatrine as needed or as long term maintenance? I have EBV overgrowth. I often feel like I have a low grade fever ( my breath feels hot and my eyes burn). I get nerve/muscle pain in my neck. My doc started me on valtrex (1,000 mg/day) but only for a month. This doesn't seem near long enough.

You mentioned taking it with inosine and andrographolide. I looked them up and inosine seems to improve nerve function and regrowth. Andro sounds pretty awesome: anti-inflammatory, microbial, and viral. How much of these do you take?

I am not aware of Dr Chia using oxymatrine to treat viruses other than enteroviruses, but I guess it might work for EBV too. Usually you take oxymatrine for up to 6 weeks or so on a slowly increasing dose. If it is going to help, you will usually get improvement in that timescale (though you often will feel worse before getting better). If it is not working after say 2 months, it's probably not going to work for you. Some more info in this post.

I don't take oxymatrine, because I have never found it makes much difference to my ME/CFS symptoms.

Well, I feel stupid. Are there any herbal AVs for EBV?

Hey, who knows, maybe you are pioneering a new treatment for EBV.

It's easy to find herbs that are antiviral, but not so easy to find herbs that have similar antiviral potency to standard antiviral drugs.

In any case, even when using standard antiviral drugs like Valtrex or Famvir, Dr Lerner's studies showed that it takes a good two years of daily use before the benefits for ME/CFS appear. See the EBV section of the roadmap of chronic fatigue syndrome treatment (drugs and supplements).

@Jimbo39

Here is a list, not all are plants. I doubt most will work. I tried a few in this list. My favorite is lysine, because it is cheap, it works well for a lytic EBV and I tolerate it well.

I think I need to find a doc who's familiar with Dr Lerner and is willing to prescribe Valtrex long term.

Thanks @Mary Do you have issues with EBV?

Good question - I don't really know. My EBV numbers are high, but I don't know how or if EBV contributes to my impaired immune system and PEM, my chief problems. I used to have high HHV6 a few years ago and somehow it went down, I don't know how, and didn't really feel any different with a lower number. I also have Coxsackie B. So I don't know what is doing what to me. I am taking olive leaf extract, I started maybe 9 months ago. I don't notice much of a difference since starting OLE, though many swear by it.

How much lysine do you take? What's lyric EVB?

I take it when needed, i.e when I feel a bad sensation in my colon. 500mg is usually enough for me and the pain goes off.
It is safe, so if you experiment with it, you can try 1g or more per day.

Lytic means the virus in the state of replication, it enters the cell, replicate inside using the cell machinery, then frees the virions by killing the cells. Lytic is usually opposed to latent. Latent means the virus is not replicated, expresses a few genes, and lies inside the cells without killing it.

Hi, have You tried Cordycepin? I may be late to the game as I get frustrated and stop looking for solutions but Cordycepin appears to have multiple benefits. Yes? No? I dunno?

Cordyceps has positive effect on Akt/mTOR expression and therefore may be helpful for PEM and/or fatigue.Cimetidine does this too in low doses (50mg twice a day).
