Personally I am not against psychiatry, nor am I against the introduction of new psychiatry diagnoses.

However, I am strongly against the bias in psychiatry which tends to view the causes of psychiatric conditions as psychological, rather than physiological.

In the future, I think we will discover that most psychiatric conditions primarily have a biological cause; research in recent years is certainly pointing in that direction.

So what we need is a new breed of psychiatrist and psychologist who is just as well versed in biomedical understanding of the body and brain as they are with empathetic understanding of the mind.
