Dr. Alison Bested, of course, is a co-author of the Canadian Consensus Criteria and one of the leading (if not THE leading) ME/CFS specialists in Canada. I don't believe this video has been posted anywhere on these forums.

I find the format (focus on the PowerPoint slides) to be quite helpful. The content of the talk... well, you be the judge!

(Never heard of Nova Southeastern University before, not gonna lie. But hey, at least Dr. Bested hasn't co-authored a paper with a prominent Scientologist, unlike SOME of her colleagues! ;))

EDIT: Thanks to everyone who corrected me about NSU. I was completely confused. :derp:

EDIT #2: You may need to disable your ad-blocking and/or enable flash to be able to view this video.

(Never heard of Nova Southeastern University before, not gonna lie. It's some college of naturopathy, I believe. But hey, nobody's perfect. )

Nova Southeastern University has many degree courses including osteopathic medicine. I don't know if they also have naturopath courses.
Dr. Nancy Klimas, Mary Ann Fletcher, Irma Rey, Gordon Broderick are part of the Neuroimmune Institute of Medicine there.

In the U.S., Osteopathic Physicians (D.O.'s) are regarded as the equivalent of M.D.s and are licensed to practice medicine and surgery in all 50 states. They are not the same as Naturopathic Doctors (N.D.'s) who are only licensed 17 states and who act as primary care providers.

Nova Southeastern University has an osteopathic medicine degree program, but I don't see anything about them offering naturopathic training.

Gordon Broderick from Canada is also now with them doing Systems Biology as well as Dr. Alison Bested.

I didn't know Alison Bested was "with them". Is she? o_O

Wow, that's pretty impressive! I didn't realize they had such a strong research group. I was still thinking of some of them in terms of their past affiliations...

And why can't Canadian universities EVER retain ANYONE?!?!

So far, I've had no luck viewing this video. It appears to be buffering, but it never starts. Maybe it's waiting to load the whole thing?

This happened to me too, until I worked out that I needed to allow Flash. Depending on your browser, there should be a button somewhere prompting you to allow it.

I was able to load the video just fine. The content however left a lot to be desired. Dr. Bested seems to promote using GAT to increase activity levels in CFS patients. And the way she was describing the exercise therapy that Klimas uses sounds eerily like GET, which I had seen before but for some reason nobody talks about this.

I have to confess, there are two big names in ME that I have trouble being comfortable with: Nancy Klimas and Julia Newton. Now you can add Alison Bested. They must only have had contact with mildly affected people for them to say some of the things that I've heard attributed to them.

I would really like to see clear statements from them that they understand most of us do more than we are able rather than less. And that our mental health is generally robust.

That's exactly my first impression, as well.

I think it's about time that we let our 'ME experts' know that there are more pressing discussions to have and that we're all aware of this stuff already and that we do not perceive this as particularly helpful info.

Thank you Glycon for posting.

Here's a good quote I found in this video (of many that exist since our state sponsored torture began), for when we sue our respective health agencies for criminal medical neglect for claiming there is a safe and effective treatment (CBT/GET) for CFS to rehabilitate us back into society, but no Scientific research exists demonstrating this claim because?

CFS is our Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome caused not by HIV, but [redacted until 2073].

''This level of immune deficit that we see in these patients is profound, in some instances, it's worse than what we see in HIV patients (if you leave the CD4 count out of it). They have better NK Cell function, than these patients. AIDS patients have better cytotoxic function than CFS patients''.

To be fair, we may be aware of these things, but the audience of this talk may not be. And they should be, given that many of them are (or will be) health care professionals of one kind or another.
CFS is our Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome caused not by HIV, but [redacted until 2073].

To be clear, do you mean that AIDS is to HIV as CFS/SEID is to what we may provisionally refer to as ME?
