Nausea from fats??

I have always had a high appetite and 2 month's ago i snacked on butter.

Then i did a 14 day juice fast. I broke the juice fast slowly and all was well. 3 week's later i gorged on greek yogurt and had about 100g fat in one sitting.

Right away i had EXTREME abdoninal distention and i felt nausea for 12 hour's.

That was 5 weeks ago and i was never the same since. Now if i eat a meal with more then 15g fat i feel fine, however 1 hours later nausea starts and lasts 6 hours or longer.

I have no pain at all.

I am getting a gastric emptying scan next month as fat intolerance could be gastroparesis. However i am trying to figure out why it happened from the one night binge.

Does anyone have any ideas? Id like to think its a galbladder problem not gastroparesis but you'd think i would have pain.

@jengonwin - it sounds like gallbladder to me too, though of course I can't diagnose you. Years ago I had trouble with an inflamed gallbladder (my chiropractor who does muscle testing found the problem). Food would feel like it just sat in my stomach for hours, I didn't have pain either - or else just very mild discomfort. He gave me AF Betafood by Standard Process and I had to take it for several weeks - it helps produce more bile, it's a great product and I believe saved my gallbladder.

I had to learn what to eat (not a lot of fat!) and also eventually I learned I needed to take HCL with pepsin with meals.

If your stomach acid is low, that puts an extra burden on the gallbladder and liver and I think it was the root of the problem. And many of us with ME/CFS have low stomach acid.

Thanks for sharing.

I hope its my galbladder. That would explain why it happened right after 80g fat meal.

My fear is gastroparesis so i hope its not that.

Any chance there is an alternative to AF betafood? I am in Australia so it's impossible for me to buy it.

It does sound like you gave your gall bladder/liver a hard time with the large fat intake @jengonwin. I remember reading somewhere years ago that the daily recommended fat intake is around 50g if I remember rightly. The article also mentioned that one slice of cheesecake alone can have 50g fat - so you can easily go way over the daily recommended fat intake by having a slice of cheesecake.

It explained why I have often felt very nauseous after enjoying a slice of cheesecake, so I always watch my fat intake for the rest of the day. Like you I could be extra sensitive to the processing of fat perhaps.

It could be the tilting position of your head when drinking that causes the sound in the throat. Years ago and at odd times while lying down I noticed if I tilted my head in a certain position it sometimes created a sound in my throat.

Hope this all settles for you.

Gallbladder comes to mind too. Mine is happily out.
I can understand that after seeing my mother have a bad time with gall bladder stones @Kati I'm really happy that my gall bladder was empty - no stones detected last time I had an ultrasound.

For me, it started with disease onset. i had EBV with liver involvement. The liver enzymes were elevated, andI had to take pain pills for a few daya. The ultrasound showed no gallstones, but sludge. Fast forward 4 months later and 2 more attacks, I was in the hospital sick as a dog with a necrotic gallbladder. The pathology report did not find stones.

Sorry to hear that @Kati sounds a horrible thing to have gone through.

That was at disease onset, in 2008. What kills me is my dr thought that last gallbladder attack was 'all in my head'. 3 days later I was in the hospital, stayed there 2 weeks.

Appalling stuff @Kati. I have something going on in my upper abdomen just below my ribs. I'm now having to find answers for this and referrals to specialists - wish me luck.

Can galbladder cause protein indigestion?

Im so baffled. This issue literally started overnight months ago. I could eat 2lbs chicken in one sitting no issues!

Today i had 4oz and now for hours stomach fullness/bloat. Its hell.

I took enzymws/betaine etc. Makes no sense.

Yoghurt, fruit, white rice, peanut butter, kefir seems fine. But as soon as i eat meat or large amounts of fat its just instant bloat/indigestion.

It seems like gastroparesis but idk how that could happen overnight. So depressing.

Guess i will quit meat. And use protein powders :(.

It could take a while to settle down. See your doctor though. I've had strange things occur with this illness. Sorry you have been getting this new symptom for a while now. Someone else may come along and recognize the same thing you are getting. Hang in there, you could come right again eventually @jengonwin. Again, see your doctor.
