Hi everyone,
Please excuse the sloppy organization, but please do read it all.
I'm new to this forum and had a bunch of questions. Normally I never post on forums and just try to find answers myself but after lots of reading and self experimentation, I felt like I was getting no where. I did find tons of helpful info from people like @Freddd and @caledonia . So thank you guys
So basically I got into methylation because I've been having trouble with fatigue-like symptoms. Unfortunately my doctor won't run any vitamin deficiency tests on me, and I live in NYC so naturopathic doctors arent covered by health insurance. To visit one, I'd have to pay out of my own pocket and I'm a broke college student.
So basically I dont know what I have because I cant afford testing from a naturopath. I have just done a lot of research and I think I might be an undermethylator. I have symptoms like severe premature ejaculation (I ejaculate within 30 seconds of penetration no matter how many consecutive times I have sex). This is the main problem for me and the most embarrassing... I would really like to solve this issue as I have just found a girl who I have sex with and don't want to keep disappointing. My other symptoms include chronic fatigue, anxiety at times, depression that comes and goes, sensitivity to light, etc. I feel that I might have adrenal fatigue? Ive read up on symptoms of hypo/hyper thyroidism and have been supplementing with iodine. I also have symptoms of copper toxicity but I'm not sure if I have that either. I know that methylation sorts out neurotransmitters and Ive read that premature ejaculation can be affected by low levels of serotonin, gaba, dopamine, acetylcholine, and also by high histamines.
I found that I didnt react well to a regular multivitamin, so I figured I dont react well to folic acid. I bought a good b complex from douglas laboratories with methylfolate. When I first took this, I felt amazing for 2-3 days and then I felt depressed after a couple days. I thought it might be due to methyl trapping or a donut hole deficiency so I tried to supplement more methyl b12 and methylfolate. I noticed that I had some pretty intense tachychardia from methyl b12 (I bought the 5 star brand - enzymatic therapy). Ignoring these symptoms, I kept taking more and supplemented with lots of potassium, thinking that it wasnt from the b12. I got up to 10 lozenges a day, 10,000 mcg and the symptoms didnt really change much but I realized that they were coming from the b 12. I tried taking more potassium (citrate and gluconate) but that only helped temporarily. I was up to 5 800mcg solgar methylfolate pills a day. I felt semi-normal/ better. I wasnt sure if how much to take, I started taking more methylfolate because I was getting the folate deficiency symptoms like rashes, itchiness, very light acne, styes, and canker sores. I dont know how much to take tbh, I wanna go back to that amazing feeling I had when I first introduced the B complex. I believe I felt that good because my neurotransmitters sorted out.
Ive also tried the seeking health adeno b12, it gave me lots of energy, I take a 3000 mcg lozenge every few days, Ive tried cartinine fumurate, and I dont really notice any symptoms from it ( ive tried acetyl l cartinine as well)
Taking b12 also raises histamine symptoms.. I get itchy. I dont know if I tolerate methyl B12 well, Ive read that COMT can make you sensitive to b12 but idk if i have that because I didnt get genetic testing. When first taking b12, it gave my a nice boost of energy, tinnitus, harder erections, better senses (it looked like I was viewing the world in HD, and my hearing got better/more sensitive). Taking too much b12 (when I was on 10 a day) gave me decreased libido.
Im afraid of methyl trapping from not taking enough b12, and too much methylfolate. Im also afraid from the intense heart palpitations I get and to be honest Im not 100% sure which place im getting it from but I think it might be the methyl b12 because I feel it when I take methylb12 first thing in the morning.
Anyways, please help me and I can answer any questions about myself. I just really want to get better.
