tp://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2015/02/05/hpv-vaccine-gardasil-has-a-dark-side-star-investigation-finds.html

Although hundreds of thousands of girls in Canada have safely taken Gardasil, at least 60 Canadians experienced debilitating illnesses after inoculation.

An excerpt:
"Many of the girls interviewed by the Star said that as they struggled to learn what was ailing them, doctors told then the illnesses were imagined, that they had eating or anxiety disorders, that the problems were in their head."

Also, one of the girls interviewed was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

All of this is a familiar theme, no?

It's the same in the U.S. with the Gardasil vaccine but I suspect there are thousands of injured girls. I have a close friend who has a friend whose daughter had to drop out of school after receiving the vaccine b/c she was so ill. She never recovered and her parents were pursuing a stem cell transplant in another country. My step-daughter and my niece will NOT be getting this vaccine. It is far too risky IMO.

Observations:

Gardasil belongs to Merck & Co., who also publishes the Merck Manuals medical reference books.

A free-access Merck Manual entry describes CFS (with recommendations of CBT/GET, etc.) here: http://www.merckmanuals.com/profess...atigue_syndrome/chronic_fatigue_syndrome.html
Cognitive-behavioral therapy and a graded exercise program are the only interventions proven helpful...Physical therapy is also often helpful. Unproven or disproven treatments, such as antivirals, immunosuppressants, elimination diets, and amalgam extractions, should be avoided.
While no author name is given for this Merck CFS entry, "review/revision" is credited to Stephen Gluckman MD (May 2014).

A quick phoenixrising search of "Stephen Gluckman" yielded (in part) the following from ZZZ (July 2014):
...My next visit to my doctor was rather eye-opening. I ended up understanding even more about what was happening at UpToDate, and I ended up with a much more cooperative doctor.

Near the beginning of the visit, I told him about the results of my investigations of his source, which are listed in the first post in this thread. I described everything I had found out about Dr. Stephen J. Gluckman and his lack of qualifications. My doctor listened in an interested way. Then, when I had finished, he said, "I did you one better. I called him up."...

Gluckman didn't claim any special expertise in CFS; in fact, he said that he didn't even see CFS patients. (Lucky for them.) When my doctor asked him how he ended up with the job of writing the article, Gluckman said that UpToDate had asked him to write it. (Why???) My doctor then asked him where was a good place to find doctors knowledgeable about CFS, and Gluckman told him, quite honestly, that most doctors want nothing to do with CFS...

ZZZ also noted that the UpToDate site states:
UpToDate is an evidence-based clinical decision support resource that is authored and peer-reviewed exclusively by physicians who are recognized experts in their medical specialties.

Consider also, Eco (post 60) in this same thread:
UPTODATE.COM is owned by a global conglomerate of world wide coporations that have their tenacles into all areas of law, tax, accounting, publishing, health information, finance. There parent company is Wolters Kluwer annual rvenues is 3.6 billion. The executive board on the healthcare of uptodate.com consists of business executives in law, finance, CPA, Information technology, health...

Once again they are shaping medical opinion for the medical profession even though it violates their own marketing and operational statements and contract concerning their core values

They have unlimited resources to lobby Congress, donate to special pac and fund relection campaigns...
http://forums.phoenixrising.me/inde...-be-listening-to-you.31449/page-2#post-486593

I'm not up to reading the full thread, but it seems that a lot of good comments have been shared. Other PR threads describe Gluckman as involved in a US CFS biobank. Anyone know more / have thoughts about this?

Additionally, this* US.gov NIH page on CFS cites Gluckman, UptoDate, and Merck Manual among its very-few sources!! (- As well as the Mayo Clinic, whose references/lack of references/circular references PR poster Andrew documented** long ago, in conjunction with the IOM process I believe.)
Many therapies have been tried, but only cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and graded exercise therapy reportedly appear to produce meaningful benefit. CBT typically involves a series of one-hour sessions designed to alter beliefs and behaviors that might delay recovery. Graded exercise therapy can be beneficial because prolonged lack of exercise may worsen the symptoms of the condition...

**EDIT: Andrew may have discussed this in more detail elsewhere, but the following is at least one place where such info was shared: http://forums.phoenixrising.me/inde...nt-recommendations-for-cfs.28568/#post-434543

Andrew noted that the 2013 IOM GWS text discussed CFS, using Mayo as one of its problem "sources". More info on this can be found as well in his guest post (and CFSAC testimony) here:
http://www.occupycfs.com/2014/06/19/guest-post-cfsac-testimony-of-andrew-bokelman/

And finally, the above problems-with-references info was shared in a comment on an NPR article on the IOM contract for ME. NPR, however, deleted the comment soon after it was posted - described on this thread, post 9 and further: http://forums.phoenixrising.me/inde...controversy-over-the-definition-effort.27929/

ZZZ also noted that the UpToDate site states

Yes, that name rang a bell. I've read the UpToDate article and it looked like a poor quality plagarism of the Australian clinical guidelines which were written in the 90s and therefore, ironically, out of date.

Most of the references in the UpToDate article were from the 90s, with a few notable additions, eg PACE, the XMRV paper etc.

Triple LIKE, @Ren!

http://truthaboutgardasil.org/

There are two HPV vaccines:
"As of Dec. 13, 2013, there were a total of 29,918 vaccine reaction reports made to the federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) associated with Gardasil vaccinations, including 140 deaths. There were a total of 2,652 vaccine adverse reaction reports made to VAERS associated with Cervarix vaccinations, including 13 deaths."

And if you want more info, just Google: Gardasil "Guillain-Barre". There needs to be a class-action lawsuit.

This is a very interesting read, all 3 pages of it - pharma sales reps discussing their company's product. More illuminating than any study ever could be http://www.cafepharma.com/boards/showthread.php?t=476247 (I do wish one of those people comes forward one day)

I've only read one page so far, and I'm flabbergasted. First, there's this business:

"100% of 13 samples of Merck & Companies HPV 4 Quadrivalent vaccine, Gardasil™ have been found to be contaminated with recombinant HPV DNA. The vaccine vials were from different lots currently marketed in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, France and Poland."

"There is no doubt that the HPV DNA found in the vaccine represents an adventitious agent left over from the DNA recombinant manufacturing process with potential adverse impacts on health safety of those vaccinated. The recombinant DNA found in Gardasil is very tightly bound to aluminum hydroxyphosphate. When injected intramuscularly, this combination may function as a DNA vaccine with uncertain consequences."

And then the reactions, mostly in this vein:
"This is making me crazy!! As a former Merck rep that has followed this vaccine since launch, I am continually agitated of the strong arm and big $$$ incentive/persuasion politically has kept the consumer and healthcare provider uninformed of the risk/benefit quotient. Shame on the politicians in states that have mandated this vaccine for school age girls.... another of the "herd" vaccines."

This gives something which they were calling "Sleeping Sickness" to some of the girls they were vaccinating, severe fatigue.. ie unable to leave bed with other symptoms which they still had a long time after.

At least one country deemed it unsafe and banned it due to this affect it had on some.

I think its giving them some form of CFS. We all know some get ME/CFS from vaccination.

And if this is the case with Gardasil, why not with any other of their vaccines (or other products for that matter - think Vioxx).

Especially knowing that they are in a very cosy bed with regulatory agencies...

This is one of the major problems with the US healthcare system and if a medication or a vaccine, etc, is a big money maker, they will never ban it. It could be banned across Europe and other countries but remain here b/c the pharmaceutical companies and lobby is so powerful.

What horrifies me are counties or states that are trying to make the Gardisil vaccine mandatory for girls to attend school. This is crazy IMO and it's not like the Ebola virus that is air born and kills people. If they tried to say my step-daughter or niece were forced to get this vaccine, we would get an attorney and fight them. This should always be up to the parents IMO.
