I suspect my mother may have had some sort of postnatal depression after having me.
But of course, there could never be anything wrong with her.
It was all my fault.
I did it to her deliberately; :wide-eyed: I was an evil baby; she'd been given the wrong one.

Babies delivered via C-section show different microbial profiles than those born vaginally....Where as vaginally delivered infants are colonized at first by fecal and vaginal bacteria from the mother. There could be a connection...Has anyone ever poll this?

So happy that someone asked this. I have been thinking a lot about this topic lately. I was born premature via C-section. I also was not breastfed because my Mom was very ill with some sort of flu, developed toxemia and was placed under quarantine for several weeks.

I have been hearing more and more lately about immunity and the importance of breastfeeding. I really wonder if this has played a part in this illness. Has anyone thought of doing a breastfed vs. non-breastfed poll?

Born by C-section? No idea.
Breastfed? No idea.

My father even had trouble remembering what time of day I was born when I asked him.

Ever had the feeling no one gives a $£%& about you...?

i was C section and not breastfed. i have always suspected that this has played some kind of role in my developing this illness. i have read that breastfed children have an IQ 5 points higher, on average, than non-breastfed children. i also had several ear infections as a child and always had a problem with fungal infections in general.

also had tonsils and adenoids taken out at a very young age....i think they make important immune cells.

Would it be possible to add to, or make a new poll associated to this thread?

I think there are two important factors that could be added that could make the normal birth vs C-section interesting:

1) Is the mom sick with ME CFS too?
2) Did the mom have a blood transfusion before the ME CFS sufferer was born.

Natural birth, breastfed for a day, but I was doubled over screaming in pain shortly after, so switched to every type of milk and formula for months after, no change. The pain continued every time I ate to varying degrees until I discovered peppermint oil when I was 30 years old. I think I contracted a HHV-6 infection in utero, and that caused a small cluster of nerves in my descending colon to develop nerve cells that registered pain when touched, so every time matter passed through it was excruciating. At least that was the theory of my last surgeon (he didn't blame the virus, but my mother's lack of self care while pregnant. Alcohol and drug abuse, smoking, and bulimia. It seems that led to my susceptibility to the virus). All my docs since have said that makes sense, the last one diagnosed me with HHV-6 and EBV, which completed the theory.

A breastfed poll would be very useful. No idea how to do it tho.

If someone does it, please don't forget to include a 'don't know' option. This could in fact be relevant. An absence of knowledge about this issue might correlate with a lack of parental contact or care.

I'm quite surprised at how many people know the answers. I can't imagine such a conversation taking place in my parental home!

I couldn't imagine talking to my grandparents about such things either! I don't think I was that interested anyway. They are long gone now, as are my parents.

That would make a difference. I mostly found out because they teased me about being a picky eater my whole life. My grandparents at least had the decency to feel contrite when I was diagnosed and apologized. I was 36 years old.

I was an older sister, so took part in bottle-feeding my brother and sister - it was just seen as normal in our house - we didn't talk about it. I was adopted in the late 60's so I knew I couldn't have been breastfed.

Sorry off topic

I was born by normal birth and please notice that i was a big baby (around 8 1/2 pounds) so it's pretty ameizing that my mom doesn't hate me jejeje that had to be rough.

I was breastfeeded but i don't know for how long.

The only issue my mom had when she was pregnant of me is that she got rubeola, and the doctors were very concerned and suggested an abortion. Thank God my parents said no, and i was born and checked by several specialists and they said i was perfectly healthy, which i remained until i turned 34 years old when i crashed with this illness.

The other curious fact is that maybe my mom had abnormal gut flora since she took antiobiotics for acne for years when she was a teenager. At that time, no one knew about probiotics or anything of the sort.
