Things have dramatically changed for me over the last few weeks. I had to go to toothpick amounts of methylfolate and methyl b12 because my reaction to them was so over caffeinated and my body couldn't keep up with the healing it was bringing on. I felt so hyper that I was almost ready to give up.

But then things calmed down. I am now up to quarter tablets of 1000 mcg's B 12 and 400 mcg's methylfolate. I have no doubt that I will soon be able to tolerate effective doses soon. I probably could tolerate them now but don't want to move up too quickly. I am increasing my dose every three days as long as I have no adverse side effects.

But over the past few days I have been feeling incredibly lethargic in contrast to when I first started. Since methylation I take a no chocolate, no green tea, no co q10 because my energy is raging until a few days ago when the lethargy I used to have came back with a vengeance!

Is it time to add l-carnitine fumarate? Can I just take plain l-carnitine? Is it too soon? How about CoQ10? Or perhaps I should rapidly increase my doses of B12 and methylfolate? Need something to get my mitochondria to work. I feel so incredibly tired and I have a midterm in a few days. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

As you probably know, everyone's issues are slightly different, so while I can tell you my experience when my fatigue finally lessened noticeably (now going on three weeks) I was (and am) taking much higher doses of everything else on the Deadlock Quartet than you are -- 15mg L-MTHF, 20mg sublingual active B12s, and so on. I don't know for sure what turned the tide for me, but about the same time the fatigue lessened, I had gotten serious about getting up to 800mg of L-Carnatine Fumerate a day, and had stopped worrying about taking 4+ grams or whatever I needed of potassium (mostly gluconate) a day. My sense of it is that my particular turnaround was the LCF & the K+ together, but it could have been a matter of time on the DQ + cofactors. If you're not doing LCF, I would start that. Freddd says "Acetyl L-carnitine works well for about 10%, LCF for about 90%. A mixture doesn't work." Are you also taking O3FA? Make sure your basic Deadlock Quartet and co-factors are covered?

What is o3fa?

Aand cofactors do you mean basic nutrients Fredd recommends such as mag b vitamins zinc minerals etc? Yes I take most of those. In fact spend whole day taking supplements.

Haven't started LCF yet because had a lot anxiety with start up and Fredd warns could make anxiety worse....but think it's time to give it a try now.

Just wondering why I was so energized at first and now lethargy is back. Is it I am getting used to supplements?

Also don't have too much low k symptoms anymore either like I did last month. Still taking extra but nowhere near 4k. More like 600 to 1000 mgs. Perhaps that is why I am tired? Was the extra energy I had in the beginning just low k winding me up?

Very sympathetic about your lethargy. I have fought deep fatigue as well, and I know how frustrating it is.

Omega 3 fatty acids. One of the co-factors. I take most co-factors as well. I think I do about 4 or 5 rounds of suppliments. Once you get it down, what you need, it becomes streamlined, and it won't seem like you're spending all the time taking them. But it can take some time to work out what you need.

I went through a lot of cycles of good energy then deep fatigue when I was first sorting all this out.

I talk about my experience in the hopes that it will help, but please keep in mind that you are not doing exactly what I was doing, your body and history are different than mine, so we may be having very different reactions. Ultimately you have to be your own best guide, and learn as best you can to listen to your body and what it tells you. I learned potassium deficit symptoms FOR ME, which are not the same as for everyone else.

I consume potassium throughout the day as needed. It gets used up fast, so if you are in revving up the methylation cycle, you'll need it more than just once a day. Don't be scared of potassium, either. I have talked to a number of doctors, and am assured that the protocol is generally pretty safe, as such things go. A kidney specialist recently told me "if your kidneys are healthy, it's almost impossible to oversdose on potassium. It's great stuff."

My experience is that if my fatigue is due to potassium, a slug of potassium gluconate in water will perk me right up.

And LCF perked me right up, too. FWIW, I never felt any anxiety associated with it. I also started very low, opening the capsule and touching a wet finger to the powder, then putting it in my mouth.

Yes taking flax oil. Very interesting about the potassium. I was wondering if maybe some of my lethargy was due to low potassium but I wasn't sure because I no longer have muscle tension. Sometimes potassium does seem to relieve my fatigue. But lately it does nothing.

I am also comforted to know that LCF didn't give you anxiety. I'll start very low with it.

So I guess I will just plug along accepting these highs and lows adjusting my doses accordingly until one day everything gets ironed out.

Thanks so much for your encouragement. Just knowing that someone else had a similar experience and there is light at the end of the tunnel is a great help. And I already know I am on the right track because even with small doses most of my viral symptoms are nonexistent since I started.

Not flax seed oil. Fish oil. My understanding, at least for my particular issues, is that flax doesn't work.

Yep, just plug along. Day by day. Keep a log of what you do and what changes. I found that really helpful, even on details i thought were silly to record. I saw patterns over time. I did tests on myself. I came to conclusions.

Lest it sound like I'm done, I'm not. Still working it.

Courage!
