Are there T0, T1 and T2 medications?

Recently I read an article about some drug companies who were trying to get a patent for T1 and T2 thyroid hormone medications. However, my computer crashed and I cannot find that article again. Has anyone else seen or heard of these medications?

I think Armour, Naturethroid and etc..... have trace amounts the T1, T2 and other thyroid hormones since they are derived from "desiccated" (probably not the right word) thyroid.

The adrenal glands actually produce about 100 different glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids plus hormones and catecholamine's.

That explains why Armour and Naturethroid mostly are superior to syntetic thyroid medications. I didn´t know about the glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids.

Interesting, but Dr. Mercola´s article below makes me wonder if syntetic thyroid hormone medications ever will be the right option.

Interesting article. I sometimes wonder if lack of T1, T2 , T3 and calcitonin cause fibromyalgia or, at least, contribute to it. Unfortunately, I live in a small town in Wyoming and it is very hard to find an affordable doctor who will prescribe dessicated thyroid. I would love to try it, however.

I do take some T3 free dessicated thyroid along with dessicated adrenal which seems to help.

Have you read this study?: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17696828
I have been taking L-Selenomethinionine for several months now and my immune system has finally stopped attacking my thyroid. My Hashimoto's TPPO antibodies used to be over 500 with the normal range being 0 to 50. I went from 50 mcg synthroid to start all the way to 150 mcg over the years. After taking the L-Selenomethionine for several months, the antibodies have gone down to below 100, which is good for me. I do not have swollen lymph nodes or a sore throat or trouble swallowing anymore. For anyone who has to constantly increase their thyroid medication, I would definitely suggest trying this. It costs around $4.00 at Swanson's Health Products.

You can buy NTH online without a script from many pharmacies. Until recently, you could even buy it on Amazon!

But your body should break down synthetic bioidentical T4/T3 as well provided that the deiodinases are working properly. (A big if!)

I think that the vast majority of people do need some T3 along with their T4 but the benefits of NTH may be somewhat overstated in the zeal for "natural". We are not pigs after all and while we can use their thyroid hormones, the proportions are fixed in NTH and may not be optimal for everyone. It's much easier to titrate the bioidentical synthetics in many cases to optimize doses individually.

You might get good information from the late Dr. John Lowe´s writings. He had fibromyalgia himself that he treated sucessfully with T3. A doctor told that she also has had FM patients who responded well to T3

The study you linked to is interesting, and selenium is particularly important in areas with selenium deficient soil. (Veterinarians use to know, as they prescribe supplementation to the animals if so). Amalgam fillings have been shown to cause antibodies too, that disappear when the fillings have been removed (Stejskal, et al).

I'm interested in this as my specialist recently told me that he is very interested in T2 and thinks that research into T2 in CFS could lead to some interesting results. He told me though that it's impossible to buy as a supplement and that research is years away. I wonder if anyone here has tried supplementing T2? Is there any anecdotal evidence out there?
