Something he like many other cfs experts seem to miss unfortunately is the connection with mitochondrial failure and ME, can't stress this enough, it's very important in understanding this disease and the lack of energy

@golden oh, you can watch this youtube video then, it's only excepts of the above, but you'll get some of his important standpoints.

There's also kdm in it who I don't like much and I think is being dishonest or at least not open enough to answer the question directly answering the question on how much of an improvement is to be expected 'if the patient is under 30 I'm not happy if it's not 90%' clever played, but not necessarily the right and honest answer I would expect. Also he has an annoying smirk.

But that's just my view, never met either of them personally. I like how Dr. Hyde says politically 'I don't do treatments, but kdm has some excellent suggestions'

Probably the only honest doctor for ME imo, because those who do offer treatment with big claims on results are in it for money I think.

Seriously? Seriously? Do you know nothing about Dr De Meirleir, or Dr Klimas, or Dr Rey, or Dr Petersen? It's absurd and insulting to suggest those doctors are only in it for the money.

I would be put off it a doctor did say how much improvement you could expect from their treatment. Fact is, he doesn't know (no doctor knows) because everyone responds uniquely. He gave some ballpark estimates, taking into account how long a patient has been ill and how old they are--I think that is as "open" as a doctor can be.

Also, this video is many years old and treatments (his and other doctors) have changed a lot in those years as research has progressed.

As far as having an "annoying smirk," that is simply your perception from a video! What does that have to do with being a good doctor?

No need to get defensive, this is how I see the situation, like it or not. There is a reason why there are so many people, who spent tens of thousands of dollars and still not better, or got even more sick. I've yet to see any severely sick patien t fully recovered.

@Sushi it's just a sympathy thing obviously, doesn't make him bad as a professional. In fact might be a good scientist. On the other hand I feel sympathy towards Dr. Teitelbaum, but I just don't like his sensationalist treatment claims and book title 'from fatigue to fantastic' for instance.

Imo there's no cure for cfs and professionals who are in it long enough know this very well, but still offer treatments with outrageous claims sometimes. Even Dr myhill who is one of my favourites in this field, you have to read between the lines to understand there can be a little to some improvement but not a cure really.

None of these doctors are miracle workers. They might bring the research in ME forward, but as for therapeutic treatment, no I don't think there's anyone having the absolute answer or something like a cure, only symptomatic treatment which help more or less. And of course they're in it for money, you think they're doing free charity work? Dr. Hyde has been in this more than 30 years and for him to say we have a lot of information but actually don't know what causes it and how to treat it, is respectably honest and real compared to other specialists in this field.
Btw, read that quote of mine again carefully, to understand what I actually said

I'm a patient of Dr. Hyde's. He's an exceptionally caring and thorough docotor. But he does not treat at all - he just investigates and investigates and investigates some more. If he finds anything that is repairable he'll send you to a specialist. And he's great for LTD. But his tests are tiring and take a long time to complete. If you're looking for someone to talk about GcMAF, or antivirals or antibiotics etc he's not the guy. Unless he finds something blatantly and alopathically wrong he won't be of much help to you.

Besides, he thinks most ME cases are misdiagnosis'.
