No I also take 1 and 1/2 of these B12+Folate tablets:
http://www.seekinghealth.com/active-b12-lozenge.html

Which add another 750mcg Methyl-B12 + 750mcg Adenosyl-B12 and 1200mcg of folate. ( I am aiming at 2 tablets/day )

Hi, thanks for the information. Did you start a low dose with the b-complex since you are up to 500Mcg of Meth and 500Mcg of Aden on the B complex and adding 750 Mcg via the lozenge giving a total of 250 Mcg of each active B12 absorbed, which I think freddd mentions that is the level that healing starts.

Also do you take it in one dose of split it throughout the day? Take with a meal of on its own?

Sorry for the questions. I'm doing some research for a friend and wanted to get a idea of how to take the doses.

No problem :) Yes I started slowly on methyl-B12 and even @250mcg it was already causing anxiety. In 6 months or so I was able to take 1000mcg. The same with methylfolate. That was pretty harsh on me a couple of months ago, but not it's okay.

I take them in 2 divided doses, after breakfast and after lunch, not on empty stomach. I avoid taking them in the evening because they make feel quite energised and I don't want it to interfere with sleep.

Thanks for getting back to me. Looks like the schedule I'm compiling might be a bit too ambitious, if it took 6 months to get to 1000 Mcg of B12. I was creating a schedule with B12 drops starting at 50Mcg (per drop) increasing by 1 drop a day. Just thinking aloud I suppose I will need to factor in that the person might be able to take a dose of say up to 250Mcg, then keep it on a level for a while (days or weeks) until upping the dose with 50 Mcg more and seeing how they feel, keep at a plateau for a while, then repeat.

Do you take any of the B complex and potassium supplements as well when taking the B12? With the methylfolate did you start this when you got to the 1000 Mcg mark and stabilised?

Thanks

Richard

Well, at the time I was in a very bad state. I was reacting to almost anything, including homeopathic remedies. Had lost lots of weight and had very limited diet. There's people here who have been able to build their dosage of active B12 much faster that I did.
Also I had problems with methyl-B12 causing extra anxiety, but I was doing relatively well on adenosyl-B12 almost from the start.

Depending on your state (or that of your friend) he may be able to reach an effective dosage faster that I did. I have SNPs that probably make me more sensitive to methyl donors. I've seen this with both methyl folate and B12.

I don't take potassium. Never had any symptoms that might be related.
Yes, methylfolate is a very recent addition, just a couple of months after my genetic profile came back with the MTHFR C677T++. Currently I am aiming at 1600-2000mcg since my homocysteine level is still high.

I found a similar thing with B12, I found injections very effective to start but now I don't really see an improvement from them, it may mean in your situation that there are other health issues that also need addressing.

This is where I found it very useful to find a physician who specialises in CFS. Someone who can give you Intravenous glutathione as well as IV C and B vitamins is recommended.
