We need your help! We're trying to think up a name for our crowdfunding campaign and we need it fast, so we can get on with the website and other materials.
We've had lots of suggestions but we don't seem to have one that entirely hits the spot just yet (my own suggestions included ).
We want to avoid funny/silly/rude names (though we see the attraction!) - our serious disease is already trivialised and we want to avoid jokeyness in the campaign name.
Good qualities would be: inclusive, inspiring, intriguing... you get the picture.
The name could be literal ('Lipkin ME Microbe Study') or metaphorical (like Jen Brea's 'Canary in a Coalmine' or Ryan Prior's 'Blue Ribbon' is). Or it could relate to the crowdfunding aspect (like Maria Gjerpe's 'ME and You' did). But it does need to have some relevance.
It should be short - no more than four or five words at the most.
The study involves 200 patients and 200 healthy controls and looking at the ecosystem - the 'microbiome' - of gut bacteria, fungi and viruses to see if any are associated with having ME.
You can read about the study here for inspiration. Maybe some words of Dr Lipkin will spark you off - he has said in interview that he thinks the gut is 'key' to ME, 'where the action is'. Here's another interview by Cort, with Dr Lipkin talking about the microbiome study near the end.
I've listed all the names anyone has come up with so far (excluding the humorous ones, sorry!) in the next post to help give you an idea but you might first want to try to come up with some independently.
Thanks to those of you who've already tried - please keep trying and everyone else, please join in!
