I thought low dose naltrexone was generic and not expensive

Depending on the mg it should be about $30 for a one month supply. I think I paid $25 for 30 3 mgs.

Maybe because you got such a large quantity of a smaller dose it cost that much more. Did they charge you a set up fee? Are tabs more than caps?

Most people here use Skips in Florida.

No, that's high. Dr. Rey told me that Walgreen's compounds LDN; you could call and ask their price
https://www.walgreens.com/pharmacy/compounding.jsp

I had my doctor prescribe 5 50mg tablets; I think they cost me $5 each. I crushed one and added it to 50ml of distilled water, in a brown bottle. I found a dropper with mls marked on it - from kid cough medicine, I think - and I measure out .5 mls 3 times. You just have to shake the bottle well, and keep it in the fridge. I was told (here) that it keeps for a month.

International anti aging system have Ldn 4.5mg pills, might be cheaper otherwise many do what maaadddie suggest. Can also cut into 1/4 which is about 12mg and then crash that portion into a fine powder then with a fine knife eyeball separate the powder into thirds and put in empty caps which is approx 3mg per cap.

If you want to do the pull cutting you can get small syringes from vet clinics it on eBay

If you can get compounded, and call around, I'd do it because crushing and measuring gets old fast

Also try McGuffs in Santa Ana ca. There are tons of conpounding pharmacies. They key is making sure the LDN is good. Skips specializes in LDN.

I thought the crushing process was easy, and I like paying $5 for a month of 1.5 doses. The hardest part was explaining to my local doctor what I was going to do.

My doctor uses this compounding pharmacy: http://capedrugs.com/compounding-specialists/ They're excellent and will answer questions over the phone. Mail would be quick; they're about 30 miles from Baltimore.

I used the titration method for 4 months to get off klonopin which requires the crushing

I obsessed over making sure I had the right dose and by the end I was sick of it.

Also, if I was going through a rough patch, it got really hard to do the basic math required.

If you want to crush you can get the naltrexone without an RX. I forget how much it is but depending on the dose it could last a year.

I know Heaps have a link and its pretty easy to find.

But again. I found the process tedious and takes a commitment vs grabbing a pill.

@heapsreal your method is too imprecise. Much better ways to get the exact dosage besides eyeballing. And if you need a tiny dose it's easier to adjust with other methods. Still a pain in the butt especially if you suck at math.

Well I didn't know I had a choice in which pharmacy to use. They called me and all I want to do is feel better, so I placed the order. If this stuff winds up working I'm going to look at the other posted options.

It would cost me $168 bucks to get out of Cape's though even before the meds! They are full of delightful things that I had no idea I needed until I saw them...

Good suggestion!

Just got the call for the filled rx, for 120 .5 pills 168.00!!! Is this price typical?

If you get LDN from a compounding pharmacy you are paying mostly for the compounding, not the LDN. They tend to charge about the same price for a .5 mg capsule as a 4.5 mg capsule. So until you have been able to titrate up to the dose that is best for you, you might consider getting capsules of 4 mg or so and then buying empty capsules and splitting them up.

Or, just getting the generic 50 mg tablet from a regular pharmacy and dissolving it in distilled water as @madietodd described. The most convenient is the liquid from Skips Pharmacy (you can just measure out your dose with a syringe) but I think it does cost more.

Good luck with your LDN--I hope it helps.

Some drugs are sold with same price per dose, regardless of how large that dose is. Strattera does this, hence I would get the 60mg dose (which costs the same as a 10mg dose) and split it into 6 pills myself.

My doctor, even though she was highly paranoid about prescribing Strattera at all, since it's even less "preferred" than the ADHD drugs with nasty side effects, had no problem prescribing the higher dose and specifying that it was 1/6 of a pill 3 times per day.

It is all in the details. I regard that as very expensive. Compounding pharmacies often charge a lot for what they do. There can be a huge markup. If its a mass produced product, I think its way too expensive. If its from a compounding pharmacy, it might not be expensive at all.

The cheapest I've seen naltrexone is at AllDayChemist. They sell 50 mg tablets. You'd have to crush them up and divide them into measured doses, but that seems to be the cheapest way of going about it.

Edit: The generic from ADC produced quite a bad, and opposite effect for me than that achieved with brand name Revia (LDN). Hopefully American generics are closer to Revia.

So I've just been prescribed this by KDM. It is used for Ulcerative Colitis as well as ME/CFS so I asked him about it and said it was worth trying out.
The Belgian pharmacy only had the high dose tablets, so I said I'd look elsewhere. Ideally, I'd like to get it from somewhere in the UK, anyone know of anywhere?

Failing that I could try and get it sent over from the US but that isn't ideal.

Why don't you buy the high-dose tablets and crush them in distilled water? It's crazy-cheap that way.

I may do that in the end, but right now I have a prescription which specifies 0.5mg a day increase 0.5mg a week until 4.5mg. 3 months supply. That works out at 36mg in total. So, if i need a prescription then the maximum I'd be able to get would be that with this prescription. I can ask KDM for a new prescription but it'll slow things down another week or two, so to start off with I guess I'll pay more and get it sooner.
I found a place in the UK which will sell it with a prescription:
http://www.dicksonchemist.co.uk/LowDoseNaltrexone/Default.aspx
But it will cost me £30 a month (£90 in total) - not dreadful but money very tight now so if anyone knows of anywhere cheaper in the UK then please let me know!

International might be ok if it was cheaper and quick postage...if you dont need a prescription, or if they'll accept a Belgian (EU) prescription.

My local doctor gave me a prescription for 5 50mg tablets with "use as directed" on the label.
