Question about 23 & Me-my results are ready, can't find them!

Can anyone help me with what I am about to ask? I went into 23 & Me trying to find if my results are ready....it says "Your results are ready!" Well, where are they? I see genetics, stuff having to do with the family, but nothing like everyone here has where you have letters and minus signs as your signature.

I never received an email saying anything was ready so I am confused. Does anyone have an idea what or where I should go? And, I can't reach out to 23 & Me. I wouldn't even know what to ask except where are the results with all of the letters, plus and minus signs. I went to the "My Results" part and it talks of "Health Risks," "Drug Response" "Traits," etc.

Please help me out. I loathe that when you need help, you can't call so many places!

Spit~

http://geneticgenie.org/methylation-analysis/ might be helpful. They show you were to go on 23andme. It's also possible that the raw results don't look like what you've been seeing here ... they're providing results for about 1 million genes, then people feed them into the program on the geneticgenie site to get the methylation and detox charts.

Valentijn, it looks nothing like anyone else's. If I print it out, it will be over 400 pages long. Does that make sense? I don't understand this crap. I am so tired and in pain. I don't get it. It's greek. It's all letters like CC.

That's the raw data. It has to get processed to give you the pretty lists.

1) Go to https://www.23andme.com/you/download/
2) Download it to your desktop or somewhere else where you can easily find it again.
3) Go to http://geneticgenie.org/methylation-analysis/
4) Hit the "browse" button and find the file that you just downloaded to your desktop (or wherever)
5) Hit "submit"

After you get results, if you want to post them here, you can:
1) Position/scroll the results so that they're nicely displayed on your screen.
2) Hit the "PrntScr" button on your keyboard.
3) Open "Paint", which is under "Programs", then "Accessories" on any PC.
4) Right click on the blank area in Paint and "paste".
5) Hit the "Select" button in Paint and click and drag to create an outline around the area you want to share (the results).
6) Click on the little menu icon above the "paste" option in the upper left corner in Paint and select "save as".
7) Set the location to your desktop or somewhere that you can find it.
8) Set the "Save as type" to "GIF" or "JPEG", and hit the "save" button.
9) Create a new post here
10) Click "upload a file" when your cursor is wherever you want the image to appear in your post
11) Select "desktop" (upper left side usually) and double click the image of your results
12) Click the "Full image" option that pops up at the bottom of your post.

It's in my photo album on here. Last photo.

Valentijn, the link is above. I have no idea how to put it on here because you can't upload a photo to a thread and I have an apple computer. I wish I understood things more or could figure this stuff out, but I can't. My illness is either that bad, or more importantly, nothing feels that easy. If it hadn't been for you, I would have been in the dark, so thank you.

Hope some people look at above link of my 23 & Me test. Again...it's beyond Greek to me.

Thanks!!

Here's the result of The Spitfire
spitfire_methylation.jpg

The COMT and MAO genes are used to break down dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. With all of your +/- results, you're probably pretty slow at this. But your VDR results also mean that you aren't producing a lot of dopamine (which turn into norepinephrine and epinephrine), so you might be okay over all. Slower creation + slower break down might mean levels aren't getting too high or too low. But you still might need vitamin D supplementation for the VDR issues.

MTHFR is used for making methylfolate. You're a bit slow in two, but fine in the one that's the most important of the three. So maybe not a big problem there, but supplementing some methylfolate still might help (or not), and supplementing BH4 might help the A1298C issues. A1298C contributes to BH4 also needed to break down neurotransmitters, so COMT and MAO might not be the only factors slowing that down.

MTRR is used for producing methylB12. Some problems there, so some supplemental methylB12 might help.

CBS breaks down homocysteine via the cystathionine pathway. Defects in that gene means that it's happening faster than it should, though your +/+ CBS gene has less of an impact than your other CBS genes. Getting rid of homocysteine isn't a bad thing itself, but being overloaded with the byproducts of that breakdown might be a bad thing. BHMT is an alternative way to use homocysteine, by converting it back into methionine. This seems to be your biggest problem area, with one +/+ and two +/- genes, and can result in low BH4. http://www.heartfixer.com/AMRI-Nutrigenomics.htm#BHMT: Betaine-Homocysteine Methyltransferase recommends phosphatidylserine or phosphatidylcholine for BHMT problems.

So you might get some benefit from methylfolate and methylB12, since you aren't so hot when it comes dealing with the inactive forms. BH4 also seems indicated, and phosphatidylserine/choline might be good too.

This is interesting, because I had a test for your neurotransmitters and it came back saying I had super high dopamine. I always do, that and high histamine.

I don't know what BH4 is. But I do know that phosphatidylserine or choline is something I can't take. I can't take L-serine, but choline...no. I am allergic to soy and also, when I was on it last I ballooned up to being 30 pounds heavier and when I went off of it, I got super sick because I lost 17 pounds in 3 weeks. It was causing me to retain water.

Also, I just began giving myself B12 shots. Not sure if this is a good idea.

Thanks, Valentijn!

Good to know about the high dopamine ... I was very curious about how the COMT/MAO problems were interacting with the VDR/MTHFR problems!

I have all of the same issues. It's also an area where the interpretation is a bit fuzzy and not well-supported. BH4 can't be supplemented directly, but methylfolate, B3, and vitamin C can help recycle it. It might help get your dopamine down.

Also, I just began giving myself B12 shots. Not sure if this is a good idea.
Me neither - let us know how it goes!

Valentijn, I will. I hired Thane from Living Wellness to interpret and give me guidance. Thanks again. Really, I so appreciate it.

Bluebell, I haven't been able to do the full program and I am not sure I will. There are too many supplements and my system does not like that at all. However, Thane is really nice. I recommend it and he knows his stuff. He also gets back to you if you have a question, pretty quickly. You can like his page on FB and email him.

Thank you MT, I will add his service to my big list of methylation links! Can I ask you how much he charges for a video report?

$50. Way less than other people. Some who aren't even doctor's charge too much.

Does that fee include only a video, or a written report too?

Who are the other providers who charge more than $50?

The only one I know about is Sterling Hill, whose written report is $20, I have heard. (Maybe she does a more expensive report by phone?)

Is there a website that lists people who do this kind of thing, or how did you hear of Thane?

I don't know very much about this area, but I'd like to give folks as many options as I can in my thread that lists the options for getting information and help regarding methylation.
