Weird that taking it orally didn't product any effects. I bought a bottle just to see anyway. I've been taking 600 mg twice a day...well below 0.5-1 g/kg body weight. We'll see!
Well, we can always hope this problem is somehow tied to rat metabolism. It might be different for humans. As long as the pantethine is converted to cysteamine, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I may have this ass-backwards and I'm too lazy to check...but I thought we were all super dooper low in HGH? so wondering if your IGF1 result is a little out of the ordinary... just can't remember how that test works....

Thats what I was saying, I dont think we are actually high in growth hormone. Someone knowledgeable told me once in forums that reading of IGF1 isnt for the "free" form of growth hormone and it has to be break down by the liver or something like that.

Ema , did u ever look further into cycloset? might help prolactin and cortisol at same time??
I have the bromocriptine but not the time release Cycloset that Kruse recommends. I thought I would ask my LLMD for a script for Cycloset next week though. She is going to have a cow when she sees my list of prescriptions I've decided I'd like to try considering I've never been much of one for meds!

I was disappointed that the amantadine made me edgy because it also was supposed to help with dopamine which should have also worked on the high prolactin. The eye side effect possibilities also made me nervous.

I think it is more common to be low in GH. But for some reason, my IGF1 is always high. It's not the best measure of GH though the endocrinologist I saw who specialized in replacing it said that a high result was thought to be accurate. A low result could actually be high, normal or low because of the way it is broken down according to him.

I think the high IGF1 may be yet another reason I'm struggling with a few extra pounds despite feeling well enough to exercise regularly and eating well.

I've never even heard of them. Where do you get them?
they sell them through bodybuilding sites etc
http://www.premiumpeptides.com/ they are injectable and if u google around u can find more places etc Supposedly they have different characteristics etc from memory ghrp6 increases appetitte but ghrp2 doesnt. But i havent personally used them but there are forums talking about there use but like already mentioned its about guys trying to muscle up. I think one has to look past that and see the gh benefits??

I believe doctors use IGF-1 as measuring hormone for HGH. HGH is a pulsing type hormone and if you test could catch it at a lazy point. The liver takes a signal from HGH and creates IGF-1 which roams around for a much longer time and when sample pulled the value will be correlated back to some derived value for HGH. The problem is there are people that have downstream receptors for IGF-1 and for whatever reason they are not working right you will get high IGF-1 values. It's probably the best test to start with since it is very cheap, but if it looked out of the norm compared to other labs ( like FH, LSH) I think I would try to have 2 or 3 real HGH test ran at different intervals during the day.

The only reason that I say that I would do that is because of our SNAFU endocrine system might just show something that could be of help to some possibly.

Elevated prolactin was the first abnormal lab my raft of various specialists ever found. Doesn't surprise me it's fatiguing!
The advice I've had recently is that if you get a decent prolactin surge around 1am this is supposed to prevent elevated daytime prolactin. Its a circadian thing. (Like so much else is!) If I find more in my notes about it I'll add more to the thread. :)

My understanding is - key to getting the prolactin rhythm right (and this has a flow on effect to HGH production too) is to get endogenous melatonin four hours prior to and NO insulin spikes 4 hours before that "magic" hour of 1am. That means having your evening meal not too late, and absolutely no snacks or even drinks that risk elevating blood sugar before bed. No blue light before bed either.
I've found those measures seem to help cortisol too. I haven't had prolactin checked recently but will in a few weeks. Fatigue is improved at least!
Best, Anne.

I have tests proving a dramatic drop in prolactin while on mucuna. Of course, "treating" a symptom alone such as high prolactin, which obviously its a consequence of a larger dysfunction, deficiency or toxicity will prove to be quite useless as indeed it proved to be for me. But its always fun to take aphrodisiacs.
well, did you at least feel less fatigue after taking mucuna, for example?

Dont remember well, but I just remember it helped a lot in the sexual area. I was a lot better back then (2 years ago) than now, walking lots of hours, kind of wired and tired, now more tired and tired hah. Adrenal fatigue its wayyyy more important than high prolactin, which in my opinion comes from it or some other similar condition. I also have low free testosterone for what its worth. You see? Too many problems to focus on just one, and that seems to apply to almost everyone here. Thats why I think methylation could work, I think I am metal toxic. And deep rooted emotional trauma its very important too IMO.

sigh... thanx, well, for whatever it's worth, I DID try doing the whole-hog Yasko, and it only helped me marginally, I mean, not in any significant way. So, sure methylation could work for u, but it sure didn't work for me (at least not on its own).

I also found this. anyone know if this means someone, somewhere out there, can prescribe this drug for use in me/cfs???

http://www.google.com/patents/EP1274430B1?cl=en
Cabergoline is another dopamine agonist like bromocriptine that is commonly used by reproductive endos to lower high prolactin.

I've never heard of it being used for ME/CFS but getting a prescription for it shouldn't be too tough, I wouldn't think.

That sucks. Fortunately there are other avenues of healing, and obviously not everything its related with what yasko treats. If methylation doesnt works for me I will keeping looking lol Did you have a lot of mutations?

This is interesting. I was just trying to research this because I also have Hashimoto's disease and had also read the study you posted.

Here are some natural herbs and supplements that may reduce prolactin:

A Chinese herbal formula (Liu Wei Di Huang Wan + Rou Gui, Yin Yang Huo and Huang Qi) was shown in a study to benefit female infertility due to pituitary dysfunction causing hyperprolactinaemia (one with and one without a pituitary adenoma). The medicine reduced the serum
prolactin
level, and resulted in a normal ovulatory cycle and pregnancy, without side-effects.

I think you can disregard all the female fertility stuff. The point is that these Chinese medicines reduce
prolactin
.

Also mucuna pruriens, P-5-P, NADH and DL-Phenylalanine because they help to increase Dopamine.

Well, after a month of the American Ginseng, my prolactin level has lowered from 37 to 32. Grrr. Not good enough!

I've only been taking the pantethine for a week though.

My IGF1 is still at the top of the range too.

I'm a big fan of DPA and DLPA. I should take those more regularly and see if that helps too.

Mya Symons, that's interesting about the Chinese formulas. Blends of herbs that I don't understand make me a little nervous though. I wish there was a good doctor of Chinese medicine around here to help. I wonder if you have to take all the formulas together or if any of them would work?
