I have Leaky Gut and possibly the onset of CFS in my young body. Well, today the Micronized Glutamine arrived and I took half a teaspoon. I dont know how much that its but for me it looked like 5 grams. Im doing this as reccomended by the user Gestalt to seal the leaky gut. That was 5 hours ago or so. Now im having some nausea and dizzyness. Nothing that I cannot handle, but its annoying. Will continue with the Glutamine and will update the thread with other things I want to do with my whiny stomach like Probiotics, parasite cleanses, bowel cleanses etc If this nausea thing continues I will lower the dosage. I have read about people curing leaky gut with low micronized dosages.

So far, the most helpful thing for me have been Digestive Enzymes and Ox Bile, intestinally wise.

Some hours later the uncomfortable feelings were gone and I actually had energy to walk around for more than an hour. Im feeling pretty good. Will take the night dose. Im also doing Nutritional Balancing per Dr Wilson.

Good luck with your regimen. I totally screwed up my gut with a long course of antibiotics. Never been the same. Hope it works out for you.

I am on 15 grams of micronized glutamine per day, 3 doses. Oddly, im peeing the micronized powder. No joke.

I dont know if this is doing something. The eczema in my nose/face looks the same, with peeling and dandruff etc at mornings. Some days im not very fatigued like today that I walked easily one hour without tiredness or heavy legs.

Im gonna add Cats Claw and Bacillus Coagulans to the mix. When more ca$h comes, more things will be added, bowel and colon cleanse, parasite and candida cleanse and healing herbs for leaky gut. The Cats Claw and Coagulans are more for IBS, although I know they help leaky gut too.

LoL people are lately asking me that a lot. I might look like an psychosomatic hypochondriac or something. Or maybe people think "leaky gut" its an umbrella disorder used by many persons that dont know what they have.

In any case I have rosacea in the nose, scalpy eczema in the sides of the nose, scalpy eczema in the head, autoimmune thyroiditis (leaky gut its well known to be related or the cause of autoimmune),"CFS", memory and concentration problems, weight loss, IgG allergies to everything tested and I have been diagnosed with having Leaky Gut by the functional doctor Georges Mouton which made a lot of tests but not the mannitol one. http://evolutionarypsychiatry.blogspot.com.es/2011/03/leaky-gut-and-chronic-fatigue-syndrome.html

Well, that would be my case too. My symptoms are: abdominal pain, intestinal cramping and bloating, nausea, non-cardiac chest pain, Helicobacter pylori-negative gastritis and duodenitis, asthma-like symptoms, shortness of breath, chronic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis, difficulty focusing eyes, tachycardia, blood pressure irregularity, pre-syncope and syncope, hot flushes (mainly in head), headache, neuropathic pain, decreased attention span, difficulty in concentration, forgetfulness, anxiety, lightheadedness, muscle pain, fatigue, asthenia and environmental sensitivities (mostly hot temperatures and food).

I am currently testing for Mast Cell Activation Syndrome as this would explain all of my symptoms.

Or maybe people think "leaky gut" its an umbrella disorder used by many persons that dont know what they have.

That comes to mind, yeah!

I have been diagnosed with having Leaky Gut by the functional doctor Georges Mouton which made a lot of tests but not the mannitol one

That's interesting given that the lactulose/mannitol test is probably the best to assess intestinal hyperpermeability.

Interesting you mention this. I had it pointed out to me once by a doc that I had face dandruff (think there is a m"more medical name for it"). That was not the reason for the visit, and it went away quickly and never thought about it again, until about a week ago. It came back after I had started taking DHEA. I researched around (did not bookmark all my links) but found that it can be triggered by many things, including fluctuations in hormone levels.

I ended up just applying some apple cider vinegar around the nose/cheeks where it is common, and it went away in about two days. Mentioned it to a doc at last visit and he wanted me to up the DHEA, which I did without incidence, so not sure if that was responsible for it or not. Just something to consider if you are looking for a trigger.

Here are some links you may find useful:

Hey I will use that in my face for a temporary solution.

Although I know this is a symptom of leaky gut and/or digestive problems like candida. I have read many cases.

My DHEA its very low in all tests, saliva, urine and blood.

you mentioned aloe above. i'm going to post a new thread on aloe, but i'll also post it here.

After doing this aloe treatment for just a few weeks, I'm am finding I have a lot more energy. I have been able to go out the last 4 days in a row! This is incredibly good for me. I spend most of my life homebound and a good deal of it bedridden. These below two supplements are what I am on (in terms of the aloe): a pill and a liquid aloe product.

Has anyone else tried aloe? From what I read online about aloe, it helps heal the gut, whatever that means. But others online (not ME/CFS patients, but just others in general) also say that aloe gives them more energy. I can certainly say that I am doing much better since starting aloe. We shall see if it continues to give me good results over time, or if the good results stop in a short time, as can happen with some treatments.

1. liquid aloe (i drink 2 oz of this 2x per day)
http://www.lilyofthedesert.com/our_products/item/preservative-free-aloe-vera-juice/31
(this one is without preservatives, and it is "stronger" than the usual one, as it has more "polysacchaide rich aloescorb" in it, which i think is just concentrated aloe)

2. aloe capsules (i take 1 tablet of this 2x per day)

here are a few articles/studies on aloe that I found searching around the web

Beyond....ism't the scaling around the nose and scalp indicative of sebhorreic dermatitis?

i have had severe, treatment resistant dandruff my entire life. nothing worked. even nizoral, the anti-fungal, worked only for a few weeks.

i have been applying apple cider vinegar to my scalp (bragg's organic works best), leaving it on for several hours, and washing it off. it works after weeks of doing it daily, and the scalp flaking comes right back when you stop using it (for me, anyway). also, when you are ill, its a pain to do so i am not consistent..but it can help a lot. your hair might smell a little like vinegar :-/

maybe this happened as a result of being bottle fed. that gives a baby a totally different gut flora and increases risk of these skin conditions. check this out

i got my metametrix results back. i am in a desperate frenzy to help my agonizing brain fog ughhh

the prevotella looks kind of high, even though it doesnt have an "H" beside it. borderline high i guess.

fusobacteria and streptomyces are both low.

e coli is low

h. pylori is high

pH is high

looks like i have too much bacterial fermentation of undigested protein.

a few other abnormalities but nothing like huge amounts of enterococcus or anything that i was hoping for...

i will speak to my doc on friday.

SO I am back into the Gut Crusade! Woah a year passed trying this and that without much improvement. There goes my life lol Right now it will be more of a work of reconstruction than a crusade but is still a struggle! Not sure about having candida or another pathogen really, but could be. Tests are nearly useless. I am about to embark in a leaky gut program. My parents are supportive now for this after I forced them to read the studies. I plan to stay on it for a year or more if I get results (should). In the studies of people curing or improving their CFS with the protocol it took 10 -14 months to really have a healing effect.

Things that have not helped are: Glutamine Micronized, Cats Claw, Bacillus Coagulans and Sach Boulardii. There has been others that I can not remember. Coffee enemas and eating grains like crazy to gain weight (it worked but not enough to look healthy) have aggravated my gut inflammation. I think both my small and large intestine are affected because the pains and discomfort appear up and down in my belly.

My plan will be based in the thread of Hip on leaky gut, the protocol of LaurieL, strict no dairy, no gluten low carb diet and a nice array of medical studies (I have talent for finding them) Will post them here but the basic studies by Maes et al can be found in Hip´s thread.

I am back to eating aloe everyday. YUCK!

Studies of nutraceuticals or therapies that aid in the repair and integrity of the intestinal mucosa

That should be enough lol Based in my research and aiming at the simpler yet most effective protocol this is what I will be taking: Glutamine, Zinc Carnosine, N-A-G, InulinFos and Cod Liver Oil. I am mildly concerned about the fact that my treatment seems to lack antioxidants (such as glutathione reduced, carnitine, NAC or quercetin), however, since I juice vegetables everyday in large amounts that should take care of that part.

I have the chronic constipation type of IBS gut problems. I find that high doeses of vitamin C help it. I take 500mg ester C - not the acid type. I take it up to gut tolerance which in my case is usually 6-12 tablets of ester C 500mg tablets. 3 tablets taken every 10 to 30 mins. It also helps my nasal allergies as a side effect
