PR is hovering just 107 votes above the cut-off point for zero money. Voting speeds up as the deadline approaches and we will need a lot more votes to secure the $10,000. Every extra vote is crucial to securing that money.

We are far humbler, but looking good for the $10,000. Good work all round.

 

Hopefully we'll make it. I feel bad for all the worthy charities who will just miss out. Curse that relentless tide of animal charities.

edit: NIDA is only just in the $20,000 group, so it's well worth encouraging people to vote for both.

 

Im annoyed that things have been made so hard in places that it has left me unable to vote at all. I'd planned to do a last minute vote as I know things always get desperate towards the end of this comp. sighs... facebook has got the better of me.

I forgot the account I made up for facebook last year so had to open a new email account and a new facebook account so I could vote (as no way do I want facebook to have any connection to my real personal details. Im a facebook hater and do not keep an account there). Firstly I went to open a hotmail account for this.. only to find out now to just open a hotmail account one either needed ANOTHER email account or to give ones phone number (it only asked for one secret question and hence wanted either of those two other things.. and I didnt want my personal stuff llinked so didnt want to give my normal email to it either).

So then I went to yahoo to open one.. (that one was easy to do.. so I got an email then to put to facebook). Then I went to facebook and seemed to sign up (under fake name) but now there is something weird coming up there saying "confirm your email address hi, to continue using facebook, please click on the link we went to. This will confirm your phone as your contact address".
I dont understand this at all as my phone number hasnt been linked to anything. So I went to my new email to see if I had a confirmation message thing there to click but there is nothing there and it isnt in the spam part either.

So at this point Im slumped and cant figure out facebook to get an account there .. Ive tried so hard to sort this all out this morn without any luck, its too complex. I feel very disappointment Ive gone to all this effort (even got out of bed early just to do this) to no avail. So Im left unable to do a vote.

* Chase also closed down an account I'd opened with them last year to give me extra vote.. citing it was a false account, Ive no idea how they come to that conclusion but yeah I did open it up only due to the comp last year. I actually did have that Chase account linked to my real email.

They do seem ever keen to have you give away personal details. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but hopefully it won't matter.

It seems like lots of CFS discussion/articles gets posted on FB, so it could be worth having an account for stuff like that too.

Sorry, tania. You still have five hours. So maybe if you rest awhile what needs done will be clearer. But this is not worth making yourself ill over. Other people are coming forward to vote in these last hours. There's still hope. . . .

 

Now im starting to wonder if my computer has a virus or not.. maybe someone can tell me.

I now forgot my normal hotmail email account password Ive had for a few years which I regularly use (I confused myself with passwords due to trying to open other accounts earlier and then did the hotmail password wrong three times), so now cant get into that .. instead of it coming up with my previous secret questions which usually happens if i forget password.. It now gets a microsoft message up saying

and is asking for a phone number to vertify me or another email. (this is ridiculous... why has my normal hotmail changed how it does things? right after I tried to open a face book account even thou i used a different email).

This sucks.. im now regretting that I tried to help with the Chase thing, my brain cant handle this stuff. It looks like now i will have to open yet another account which isnt a temp fake one, to use as a second account to now get into my normal email account (I wont do it with the one I just opened for facebook as that is linked to facebook now)

OR is this a false microsoft message, a virus???? (do they really ask for phone numbers to confirm who's behind accounts?). Its weird.. facebook did it to me and now my normal hotmail is doing it.. Ive never had this issue before... Im wondering if facebook going there contaminated my computer in some way. (Iast year when i did the facebook stuff, I made sure not to use my own computer). This stuff is upsetting me... I had some important emails to do but now cant.. its like my normal account has now been hijacked (or that someone is trying to do that). Im going to have to try to get someone to wipe out cookies or anything else which I could of picked up from facebook from my computer before I do anything else.

I suggest anyone who dont use facebook and avoids it due to the NWO stuff or whatever.. whatever you do.. dont go to facebook and try to open an account.. forget about voting yourself if you dont use facebook.. it isnt worth the stress and hassels it causes.. its too coincidental that Ive now got issues with my computer and accounts after going there. (I havent had a virus on my computer for a few years.. so suddenly to be getting this happening.. its too weird). Maybe just get people who do use facebook to vote.

(note tried to do everything at facebook under false names and accounts and still my regular hotmail account has been affected (im sure my computer has been tracked from it). I think Im now going to have to abandon my account everyone knows and ive been using for years)

Nope, they want your phone number to store in your dossier with your identity so that they can correlate that with all the tracking they do on your web activity. They also read all your email. Did you ever use that email to order anything online? Then they have your name, address etc. When hackers get it all, they'll say "oops, sorry".

Btw, there was just a news report that medical records are being sold on certain websites, e.g. $20 for each.

I had read somewhere that hotmail worked in with all that too (google/facebook/hotmail) but till today after i went to facebook .. I hadnt seen any evidence of that. but yeah I was definatately tracked on my computer from FB and then had my normal hotmail account I hadnt even used there affected. They certainly want to know it was who tried to join FB.

I'll stuff that up by making a new email account so i have the second one i need to be able to access my normal hotmail again (not throu google and not connected to the new yahoo one i connected to face book).

Does anyone know of another place I can get an email account from which has no facebook ties to fix the issue I have now? Actually I will need two other places.. one so I have a way again to get into my hotmail to tell my friends I need to abandon that account so not to mail me there and I'll need to collect all my addresses (but unfortunately then my infected hotmail will know that one). so then I'll need a second email place to then message them on to tell them my new address. (i hate ideas of goverments tracking people..so Ive always made sure I'd be as hard as possible to track me. I dont even allow people to put my photo on facebook, Ive never placed my photo up on a dating site or anything.. the most Ive done is put a picture of my mouth on photobucket).

Merry..Im probably more upset now over that my email has been ruined in this way then I are over the voting (thou I wasnt happy i couldnt do that vote either). Its all the hassel of having my personal account affected and now having to work out how to fix this issue I have now. i knew i should of stayed clear of facebook , I had a bad feel about it but i wouldnt have been able to forgive myself if PR had lost by one vote and I hadnt done all I could.

Also could someone please tell me how to get the FB tracker out of my computer (i used to have something on how to do that but have lost it). I dont want to have to pay for someone to come and sort my computer out if I dont have to (I need my money right now as I see a new CFS specialist soon who does a lot more tests).

Just imagine if there was another like Holocaust which happened in Germany and groups of people were being wiped out.. it would be soooo easy to find out peoples religious views or whatever by FB, hotmail and google and the watching they do of people there. They'd know sooo much about you.. what you look like, the places you hang out in real life (from the photos) etc etc. Hardly any of the targets (people) they were after would survive. Just imagine if that holocaust happened in todays society.. less jews would of escaped. Humanity is capable of just turning on large groups of people...and destroying them. Culls of certain groups happen all over the world at times.

Personally I don't trust Google - they collect far to much data not just emails but searches etc and they mine that data. Remember google are not a technology company they are an advertising agency. With android smart phones they not only track web usage but have location information.

Just as an example google can predict where there are outbreaks of various viral diseases such as flu before doctors notice. Just by looking at the searches people are doing.

There is however a problem when you forget your password. The usual reminder questions have proved to be unreliable hence the attempts to link the account to a mobile phone number or a seperate email address. You can just skip this if you want.

If you really want privacy there is an email provider called Hushmail. The downside is that unless you pay for an account they delete accounts after 3 weeks of inactivity, they also have no password recovery mechanism so if you forget your password you have lost your email.

Those figures were at 6pm EST, not at close (the leaderboard is only updated a couple of times a day) so we still don't know for sure, but it's looking good. Just hold the balloons for now...

I'm not impressed by their fraud detection system

So I used a facebook account with very little if any activity to vote. It can be useful to have a facebook account for the odd thing (like this) but I don't like facebook and generally don't link to people. I also know people with several active facebook accounts (often in their pets names) as this helps in playing games.

The problem with their fraud detection is that it assumes that all people voting will be active facebook users. Did people set up face book accounts to vote? As charities incourage people to vote some people without facebook accounts will set them up - perhaps just for this purpose. If a particular charity reached out to a lot of people who were not facebook users, helping them set up accounts they could loose all their votes.

 

What caught my eye a week ago and sent me googling for reports of fraud were the organizations at the top of the leaderboard, which were bringing in thousands of votes per day. The problem that the article highlights is that "charities" can pay companies to generate the votes for big wins.
