Heat & Tachy

Are the adrenals stressed?
As soon as the temperature rises,
exhausted (more than usual), dizzy,
faintlike, confused, forgetful, and tachy
which can last for many hours!

Is it autonomic?

All I can do is cold foot baths,
wet cold towels on neck, spray body
with cool water to bring heart rate down,

Quirky

Those symptoms are some of my problems with POTS. Autonomic Neuropathy/dysautonomia.

The autonomic nervous system doesn't work correctly in many of us and some of us have huge problems with it. Drinking a lot of water helps. How is your bp? Just be careful and watch it when you are hot. A shower chair might be needed to stay safe in a warm shower.

I have problems with temperature too and this is what an autonomic specialist told me: heat brings blood to the skin (you often look red when you are hot). We are low in blood volume already, and when a significant amount is drawn to the skin the heart, brain, has even less available than usual.

I think that there are other autonomic implications too.

Have you tried using a cooling vest? Mine helps me a lot if I need to go outside in the summer. It has gel "ribs" that freeze, and keep your core quite cool.

Best wishes,

I also get elevated heart-rate and other worsened symptoms in hot weather. Blech! Luckily we don't have a long summer here. The cooling vest sounds great.

I would consider trying a teaspoon of sea salt in a glass of water. Low sodium can often cause tachycardia and many times this will bring it right down. It's easy to lose sodium when the weather is hot as well.
